Seeing as we're cyclists and whatnot, can we rename it Craig Gordon day?

http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/news/qanda/article/never-say-never-again-7572/?mp=0Is that where the Aussie rides himself into hospital to beat the 'merican?
It costs him more in medical bills for his recovery than he wins.
But he wins.
And we all know kids, it's not how you play the game, winning is everything.
Yeah..
http://velonews.competitor.com/2006/10/mountain/a-freds-eye-view-craig-gordons-world-of-pain_11025Financially, Gordon’s attempt was a major loss — his $7000 bill fromhis two-day stay in the hospital dwarfs his $2500 winner’s check from therace.
But for bragging rights, Gordon achieved something that most peoplewill never do — he logged 240 dirt miles in 30 laps. -

Yep, watched that DVD 3 times in the past 2 days, he's a fucking hero. Makes it even better seeing how bitter the Americans get over it too.

what about a poll?
Indeed. I tried to get that started back in the vanilla days, no takers.
List threads suck. But are useful.

I reiterate- happy Australia day, enjoy your ride whilst I sit in a nice warm pub.
If you intend on hitting the pub at 22:00 then I'll see you another time.
Anyone who fancies an uncomplicated beer I'll see tomorrow at ten past six.

^^Russia, France and the British Administration in India transported their convicts far later and on a collectively larger scale than the British did to Australia.
Such an inaccurate joke ;)

So the ancestors are convicts but foriegn ones too ;)
In all seriousness ever read what some people got deported for and some of the stories from Van diemans land prisons? These are the only ones I have read but cannot imagine the horribleness of the reality.

noooo, they didn't send them to australia, silly.
but on the note of VDL - you should talk to my very quietly spoken and polite fellow phd-er at king's.. many many grizzly stories... think he might be a total sadist, would have to be to read through all the stories on that topic, all day, for four years.. i don't like convict history much. bo-ring.

right, now that the organiser/hijacker has pulled out, how easily convinced will all of you be to revert to the original plan and ride to the pub?
Maybe... Let's see how I feel tomorrow, still in bed... :/
