  • Today is Pi day (thank you Nhatt) [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi_Day[/ame]

Ironically I'm making Rhurbarb crumble tonight..however MOC will be having Hunstman pie tomorrow.

    Happy Pie Day!

(I'm still a pie over crumble most days, but rhubarb crumble > rhubarb pie)

  • How about a nice charlotte? Apple or whatever in the bottom of the dish, and a layer of sponge mix (eg 3 eggs, 8oz SR flour, 6oz each sugar and marge / butter) on top, bake... It goes very nice and moist underneath where it sits on the fruit.

  • Pics please Clefty!

  • This stuff drops knickers

  • Had a lovely Apple and Pear crumble at the Ladbroke Arms earlier.

However, pie is still my number one.

  • Partially destroyed now, was fucking lush

    Recipe:

About 500g rhubarb sliced into 3cm pieces
    50ml water
    100g caster sugar
    150g plain flour
    50g oats
    100g cold butter, cubed
    125g demerara sugar

Stick the rhubarb in a deep ovenproof dish, sprinkle over the water and caster sugar
combine the flour, oats and butter rub it all together until its like breadcrumbs, mix in the demerara

Sprinkle liberally over the rhubarb, don't pack it down hard. bake it at 180c for 35-40 mins until its bubbling at the sides.

  • oat fail ;)

    looks ace.

  • Apple Pie

  • Gonna put more oats in next time, this time was an experiment - made it turn out nice and crunchy though.

  • We are currently devouring this in my office. Peach and Blackberry crumble. Pen is for size comparisson purposes.

    Baked by my boss.

    Fucking yum.

That's how I do it - if the Rhubarb is still quite young, you can get away with just a quick stewing

  • See, that's where you go wrong, rhubarb is the vile and shouldn't be anywhere near a kitchen, unless you're trying to poison someone.

  • Nooo, Rhubarb is the delish! Yum!! (I like it when its a bit tart too)

    ^ Fact.

  • Made some custard and plum tarts a few weeks ago, the leftover plums were used for a great crumble.

  • ^ Fact.

It's been mayhem in here today. You might have some cleaning up to do.

Good to have some authority back in here.

  • I haven't got the time. It's fucked here at work. I'm only on here so I don't stab someone's face in with a computer.. and breath
