Apple crumble, with fresh thick Devon cream, or vanilla Haagen Daaz.
I would do evil things for such a confection concoction.

Crumble in the Jungle - I love that soggy bit you get between crust and rhubarb. Making a crumble is about the easiest and bestest thing you can do for someone - they will love you for ever and ever. I like to put a bit of all spice/mixed spice/cinnamon over the top along with the demerara sugar before it goes in the oven

This is totaly random, but not really actually. . .I heard from a chemist/biologist that if you combine rhubarb and pineapple it turns toxic poison, that can make you very very ill or kill you.
So if anyone offers you a rhubarb and pineapple crumble, be wary.
My vote is for apple and rhubarb crumble with cream.
and apple pie with custard.

I can't express a preference on this really. In themselves, crumble and pie are on an equal footing. It's not until they've been filled and accompanied that they can compete. Crumble is far better with sauce and custard but pie is clearly the winner when gravy or ice cream are applied.
Crumble wins with fruits from trees but pie is ahead on bush and shrub fruit (gooseberries excepted equal in both).

Shame you voted for pie then.
Pie still wins... Takeaway crumble and custard doesn't count...

Fresh rhubarb?
Defrosted and then cooked but about as fresh as you can get for this time of year. My own crop so I might be biased.

If your rhubarb is fresh, no need to parboil or steep - if older, then hell yeh..you best be getting steeping blud....

Fortunately nothing more than an old wives tale and utter gobshite. I have had both together and the only ill effect that I suffered was an overwhelming need for more. Fortunately sated by eating some more.
