Segway = Thing you cant fall off that G.Bush fell off

Aparantly they'll be allowed in cycle lanes. THey're not allowed anywhere at the mo, so it's thought this will be a a boon to their sales. I'm up for it, since I've never seen one. Maybe hitch a ride now and then for a breather.

If you're still in the dark, here's a pic of a couple of segways riden by Christian Slater and his Mum and his girlfriend:

  • They should be banned from everywhere. Laziest things in the world.

  • Should Christian be doing that in front of his mother?

  • Used to be a guy who rode one along the canal, whilst chewing gum and wearing shades. I assume he got pushed in, as I haven't seen him for a while.

  • Surely due to the massive costs of these contraptions its a non-issue?
£4000 for one of those is a joke, however, it would be interesting to see them pulling away from the lights in the nodder tt every morning.

  • I used these a couple of times,
I must say they were great fun, but definetly take some getting used to, they can go at a decent speed (12.5mph), i used them when i was in florence.

I really doubt however that they will ever become very popular due to the massive cost of them.

  • G.O.B. should be the only person allowed to use one of these

  • I was on a mates stag in Lithuania and they did tours around the town on those things.

We persuaded the chap where the tours were based from to let a few of us have ago around the town square.

Jagermeister fueled segway action is awsome.

  • Personal transport for fuckwits.

  • Saw them in Belize. Anyone who feels the need to buy one needs to be put in one of those machines that fires claypigeons as the world shouts pull.

  • Look like they have large potential for spectacular faceplant. Seeing that is up there on the want list.

  • Had a go on one of these in San Antonio, TX on Christmas Eve ... doing donuts in front of the Alamo was neat.

The police use them in various US cities, can't see them taking off in London somehow, too many kerbs and uneven surfaces.

  • ...can't see them taking off in London somehow, too many kerbs and uneven surfaces.

    See above.

  • Some of the potholes would swallow them too.
    Haha

  • saw two people going round dulwich park on offroad segways the other day, they looked like complete tossers....

  • Biggest design flaw - the tyres are exposed and if caught on anything will make you spin off onto your arse and the segway will go on in circles with a life of its own ...

  • I had a go on the golf buggy version - i dont play golf, but it made the day a lot more interesting - strangely they dont respond well when you try and air into a bunker on them

  • ^ Want

  • I thought it would look great if you dumped the bag, and in its place mounted up with a mini gun a la Jesse Ventura in Predator

  • Lets hope they don't RLJ

Not sure I would call 12.5 mph a decent speed, it will be slower than the average nodder so just more clutter in bike lanes, and another reason to travel sensibly as part of traffic on the road rather than a marginalised bike lane.

  • they can go at a decent speed (12.5mph)

I'm sorry? Even the nodders go faster than that, decent? Yes if you are the muppet stupid enough to ride one, but getting in the way of higher life forms?

  • damn.

  • Still about 8 times faster than your average speed when you take into account the three hours of time you spend waiting for police to turn up to help you at every set of lights!
