How else can Foffa make a profit? (nothing wrong with that), The price of those Unipack that are sold to the reseller cost only £100, giving the reseller a tidy £100 profit.

holly flashbacks batman, I almost called G. to talk about wedding plans. Fuck me 2007 seems like such a long time ago!
Also this Dan/ Dani guy seems like a stand up bloke.

As far as the geometry is concerned the main points we wanted to make sure were covered are:
- sturdy butted Cr-Mo 4130 tubings
- laser cut 5mm thick track-ends
- no toe overlap!
- height from the ground to the bb is over 11inch so unlikely pedal strike
But what *is *the geometry? surely you must know HT and ST angles, the c-c of the top and seat tubes and CS length?

What he posted looks like cut and paste from the Engrish flyer from the Chinese factory, so getting a full geometry chart may take a while.

You guys are right, there's nothing wrong with toe overlap, that's if you are not using a track frame for city riding or bike polo..
I found that it is still possible to get a fairly compact track frame geometry while avoiding toe overlap, so I kept that in mind when designing our frames since most people don't necessarily use track frames on tracks only.
As for the Unipack/Create bikes, they are actually made in India which tends to be a lot cheaper than Taiwan (at least that's what I found when looking for suppliers) and most of the times don't even pass BS safety standards. You guys probably are aware that Claud Butler, Giant, along with many others get everything done in Taiwan these days (even some of the Bianchi models.. what happened to my Italian heritage?!?!) and I can ensure you that I certainly wish that I'd be making a tidy £100 profit on each frames/forks.
Cheers,
dani

Obviously there won't be toe overlap on a bike with a 565mm top tube, but is that the only size there is?
Oh, and that's not a chart, it's a drawing. -

This is a chart:

drinks snacks music and bikes sound like a good recipe - got to work then so wont be able to make it - thanks for the open invitation though - good luck with the new frames and workshop!

If you read from post #567 down you'll see that because of that thread Dani actually fired the shit mechanics that caused the issues in the first place. Give the guy a chance..

What's the point of that mate?
Give the guy a chance..
+1, nice one Clefty.

angles and tube lengths will change for each size, especially if there is an emphasis on having no toe overlap. chart plz.
if you can buy an entire unipak "bicycle" for £200, why does a frame and forks only of very similar quality cost £220?

Have you compared the 2 side by side?
Unipacs arent even straight out the box most of the times.
Give the guy a break, he made mistakes, hes learnt from them, and hes trying to put out some product thats useful to us lot

give him the benefit of doubt.
and dani, I don't think you should worry about toe overlap and just concentrate on the rest of the frame.

Are Unipacks made from butted tubing? Er, no, they are plain guage carbon steel, not butted CroMo. Irregardless™ of your view of Foffa, there is a huge difference in the quality of materials used. Just in terms of material quality, there is a bigger step up from Unipack to Foffa than there is from Foffa to BJ.

fair enough, i'll cut some slack. i guess i'm just pissed that you can't get a cheap (& fairly decent) new hack frame and fork for under £200 in london, whereas in the US it's a doddle (new Reynolds 520 frame and forks for $200). i know it's economies of scale etc etc but it's wank.
-
• #598
Reynolds 520 doesn't come from England, it just a Taiwanese butted chromo (I think?) steel tubing that comply with Reynold's specification, hence why the US frame have it.
does not necessary mean it's bad though, just on pair with Foffa.

But 520 is on a par with what Foffa is using. At the current exchange rate, and given that 'Merkins never account for sales tax, Foffa is charging $260, so not a huge mark up given that this is London's famously expensive London.
looks like a very standard Taiwanese TIG welded frame to me, surely they should be cheaper than £220?
