  • "Hi, I have just received my ring and would like to say that it is absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for a fast efficient services and the perfect ring."

    Mrs Johnson

"I’m very impressed with your customer service, so much so that I felt the need to comment on it. Your quality and speed and helpfulness are second to none, thank you very much."

    Mr Lefevre, South Yorkshire

    A likely story...

  • I reckon that's the person who makes the rings using a pseudonym.

  • I don't buy the innocent victim thing, sorry, to believe that after two years of trying to peddle such junk that these are anything other than old, painted crap is either incredibly stupid or naive to the point of gullible. The nice guy bit works well on a forum, if it's sincere then it's commendable but immaterial to the fact that most of these builds are mis-described, monstrous and likely dangerous. Constant referral to a "warranty" (which despite possible good intentions is borderline impossible to honor, given the very second hand nature of the bikes and parts) does nothing to change any of this.
Kiwi cycles used to do up old bikes and turn them into fixed and singlespeed, now whatever happened to that guy, he made some usable and safe bikes, with recognised parts and frames designed to be used together.

The answer is not to post syrupy apologies and justifications and blame shifting suggestions, but to simply build a better bike.

Having read RPM, I have to sick it back up...the nice bit that I typed yesterday.
Unless you are a total idiot, and having read Dans typing he is apparently not...How on earth can you spend 2 years building bikes and not know a pile of shit from a pile of gold?

This has been a fucking con all the way through.

after 2 years of building bikes at some point if there was a shred of talent the bikes would start to look as though someone with an eye for detail had touched them, and not just match the tyres and the bar tape...

I know I have just posted again...and that is anti what I am about to say ...but we should just headline this thread with 'These bikes are Shit'...and move along...get over it.

As Rpm said...no amount of pandering is going to shine a turd into a golden fleece, they are shit from the tyres up.

  • union carbide wasn't meant as an analogy. just the first thing that popped into my head of an event that wasn't particularly good advertising.

how about, http://www.godhatesfags.com as an advert for religion?

  • Praise the lord.

  • And why oh why has he not just sacked the hacked duo? publicly

Whilst we might mostly agree that Mr Foffa appears a decent bloke. Retaining the services of the hacked Muppets continues to undermine his ability to manage those he associates himself with and thus continues to tarnish what reputation he may have left......non?

  • Conclusion: The bike arrived and unfortunately the frame was smaller than expected. I put it together though and it seemed pretty solid and pinky lifting light, decent paint job as well!

There was a slight issue with the brakes, but other than that the size of the frame was the only thing that troubled me!

Dani has paid for the return delivery as well as a full refund (Due to the fault being the stated frame size). I think there is a lot of bad press going out there for pretty unreasonable reasons. The guy is clearly willing to sort out any issues with purchases.

I don't know what the mechanics are all about...I seemed to have missed an entire chapter! Fortunately though they are not dealing with new customers, and for that reason I would be confident to buy from them again...although maybe next time I am in London I will try it on first!

    Cris

    Well done.

  • Blah...blah...blah...there is a lot of bad press going out there for pretty unreasonable reasons...blah...blah...would be confident to buy from them again...blah

    uh-oh...

  • ...although maybe next time I am in London I will try it on first!

Your being very nice about the fact you were given the wrong size bike. I like you already Cris, but I fear for your future.

Find a good LBS and make friends with them, not these Foffa fools.

  • Sorry found this thread by accident and haven't read through every single post - however, it seemed appropriate, 'Every loser wins' by Nick 'Wicksy' Berry. Enjoy...

  • How did I miss this thread?! and the bike, when it finally makes it north of the border, is too small. Well, at least that means the £100 brakes aren't going to be stressing the vintage frame, sending the tubes in different directions and your face onto the tarmac.

Dani - chapeau for both your attitude on here, and making a go of your own business, both of which I think are admirable things, at least in principle. Do take the criticism of quality / parts seriously though. MDCC_tester is a fount of knowledge, and his post at the top of this page is wisdom indeed.

  • Please, for the love of God, no. This thread must end.

    *********** MOVE ALONG PLEASE ****************************

  • I accompanied a mate to foffa, dani jumped on my wheels with a hammer and chisel and cracked the rear bearing cap, wheel since spews grease and rumbles like thunder. It will now need replacing. Hmm... cowboy mechanic. Sorry to add to this thread, was hoping he would replace my rear bearings but he doesn't think its his fault...

  • What exactly happened?

  • my wheel had a slight wobble. he attempted to knock the bearing cap in to tighten it up with a screw driver and mallet. there was a big crack in the cap when he was done.

  • How long before you noticed and notified him?

  • He has said many times in this thread that if you have problem with his service/bikes, then tell him and he will get it sorted.

  • "wheel had a slight wobble"

"attempted to knock the bearing cap in to tighten it up with a screw driver and mallet"

"big crack in the cap when he was done"

Get him to call his local Evans to get a price for replacing a bearing, he obviously has no idea what he's doing.

  • can someone briefly recap this whole thread for me

  • ^ i have done before, go back a couple of pages. it worth it.

  • why are they all fixed and have rear brake, or am i missing something?

I friend hurt himself riding into a pothole recently and every time he goes back to hospital to have his cast looked at there are people there who have been f@!cked up on bikes. The one today was some guy who had bought a fix with a rear brake and no foot restraint, skidded using the brake then let go, the pedals started turning and broke both his shins

  • skidded using the brake then let go, the pedals started turning and broke both his shins

    video?

Just because its fixed doesn't mean you cant have two brakes.

And the guy in hospital sounds like another poor soul who has taken up riding fixed without prior research or it was just a silly mistake.

  • Remember that thread where Brick Lane Bikes had drilled off some guys expensive cranks because they were stuck on?
