My sister bought me that book for Christmas... FFS
I actually pointed out the foffa to her and explained how it was quite the opposite.

I'm in the Netherlands. The local used track bike market is basically nonexistent, and the scarcity of decent used OTPs drives their prices through the roof.

**lol **
you should have printed and bound this thread and given it to her in return. Probably makes for more entertaining reading.

What POS BSO was it?

Read the thread. yikes.
then saw the foffa ones in grey on wiggle for £315. I've had stuff from wiggle before and always held a good opinion of them, so ordered one. came within a couple of days. seems well built enough for a cheap single. only complaint I would have is the saddle is solid, but I haven't ridden a bike for a year or so scince my 06 Langster got stolensniff so it might just be my arse isn't used to saddles yet.
I clocked up to 60k mile on my langster, commuting all year round. this bike I'm going to commute maybe twice a week, and stick with a motorbike the rest of the time. a 2 day a weeker, cheap as chips, feels like its up to the job.

^ you might find it more comfortable if you level out the saddle. obviously it's highly personal but internetbikefit suggest that looks rather nose up.
Tbh for £315 otp that looks fine although only you can tell us about the mechanical integrity. You'd do better off forum classifieds but there's hardly any new purchase that isn't true for...

If the guy says he did enough miles to circumnavigate the earth and still have change, who are we to question it?

I really liked the look of the Vitus 29(?)
I know not a lot about bikes though I'm afraid and wasn't sure if it was an on or off road bike.
only reason I got a langster originally was because I liked the look of it :)

checking math on the 60k mile claim, 220ish mile a week from denham to wood green for 5-6 years. think that's about right. was easy o the bike as from Uxbridge to hanger lane its mostly flat tarmac cycle path type surfaces.
is the claim bad or good?
-
• #2938
60k!?! That's over 165 miles a week, every week since 06!! Allowing for your year off of course.

Oops bit late.

Fair play. Don't suppose there was much of the original bike left after that. Went through through the rims on mind in just one winter.

My old commute was roughly this
About 22 mile, 220 mile a week. 5-6 years = 60,000 ish?
The bike lasted to 40k ish before i had to change anything other than tyres and chains, worth bearing in mind though, A40 from Uxbridge has a wide tarmac stretch down nearly all of it so really easy going miles on the bike, then the A406 used to be in good nick so that was easy on the bike parts too. The only rim destroying parts of my journey was the last bit when i came off the A406, Bounds Green Road and Lordship lane had craters in it >.<
Changed the wheels for Charge wheels i think, hub(?) and sprocket got changed to something with Heaven in the name. Again, I know nothing of bikes, so not entirely sure what was put on :)
The frame and handlebars were fine. Think I even had original saddle. Frame was an aluminum one.

^^^^^^Do it on a foffa and then collect your medal.

What is happening with the chain there? Is it SOP to photo bikes upside down?

Im guessing they just hook the bikes by the rims upside down, that way each bike in a shoot will be at a consistent angle to the camera..?
-
• #2948
I wonder if they hang it by the valve.
-
• #2949
The air leaks out from tyres quicker if hung upside down, that's why you never leave your clothes on the floor to dry.
-

not if you turn the valves to the top / bottom
