foffa wish to buy wicksies fixie
Does this seem strange to anyone?

• #280
It does. It strikes me that he was planning to come and have a go because you where nasty on the Internet.

Or worse, he thought your bike was bad enough to be foffafied :-)

Fixie:
Though I find your family loyalty commendable I think that if you wish to make a success of your business then you have to outgrow your obvious naivety.
As far as I can see the only "attacks" made so far have been in relation to a product that has been offered on the open market: If the goods were up to scratch then there would be no "attacks".
Even some of the bikes offered for sale had (admitted) serious safety defects ie. bent forks.
Your father appears to have taken the criticism offered here and, hopefully, will make changes that result in a prosperous business.
I am sure that if the bikes offered are of suitable quality and price then they will sell.
I find this attempt to personalise the issue somewhat distasteful and completely missing the point. -

Not really, it's a lots cheaper than the foffa.

Hence why I brought it up.

someone told me it was about 100 to get brakes fitted on the Fuji but I spoke to Evans this morning and it's about 70
WTF!
Tektro R320 callipers £17.50/pr
Tektro RL340 levers £10.50/pr
Shimano cables £6.00 setThat's OEM product with Ribble's retail mark-up, and the callipers are good enough for my new build. For somebody claiming to be a professional in this industry, you seem staggeringly ill informed if your idea of the cost of something is what Evans quote you.
-
• #287
Labour? It IS Evans he's quoting after all.
-
• #288
I don't doubt that Evans would charge you £70 to fit a set of basic Tektros to your Fuji, but that's hardly the point. Even so, with a little negotiation that still means you can get a new 2009 Fuji Track with two brakes for £400, which makes any Foffing "Bespoke" "Restoration" look overpriced.
-
• #289
we all know that it would cost circa £200 to build a bike like this but if you were then selling it as part of your business the £400 is what would be required. To pay all the overheads and give yourself a salary. If you sold 2 per day then you wouldn't exactly be doing that well financially if that was you main job and selling 2 per day would look optimistic!
The idea is a non starter, and for that reason I am out.

Oooof!!!

They had shorter forks in easy rider, that must handle really badly and look at the angles ,they must be about 68 degrees !!
-
• #292
Shallow angle + large fork offset = normal trail. I expect it would handle perfectly fine on the 27x1-1/4" tyres for which it was built. It's old fashioned, but Dutch bikes are still built this shape and women in high heels can ride them one handed while texting.

Is it inappropriate to post PM's from the people this thread concerns?

Go on then.

It's perhaps not nice, but then it depends whether they were being nice. I've said before that there will be no rules against such behaviour as there enough scenarios in which we would want people to do this (i.e. if a creepy guy was hitting on the very few girls here and giving us an even worse rep than we already give ourselves).

Dani Foffa's post was good natured, mature and intelligent- a marked contrast to the Hacked father and son double act.
This is surprising- you expect most business associates to share a common mindset, but I'm stunned that someone as reasonable as Dani would work with the Hacked's.
Hacked2 is the only person on this forum that has ever been directly rude to me, including posting my full name which I would say is a fair breach of forum protocol, especially as he had gone out of his way to find out what my name was by searching through old eBay auctions.

It wasn't nice and to be honest I feel threatened. Not as a result of the PM but as of what I think his intentions were.
And to be honest, I feel that the thread would benefit from having this all out in the open. -
• #298
Do it.
-
• #299
Then post it... it's his words, you can't be held liable to libel over a direct quote... let his actions tarnish his own rep further if that's what his actions are doing.

If you have been threatened then post it so we can all see what the coward says
