  • Three bikes. Mental. I simply can't imagine it.

  • £850 for sora parts and that's at sale price? Really? that's taking a piss.

  • That's the non sale price of the Charge.
The Foffa is £550 for Centaur, as far I can tell.

  • Toby9797 seems a little suspicious.

  • What does he seem suspicious of?

  • His fifth post is that long detailed one above and he joined yesterday.

  • nah, he's just getting involved cos he's looking for a new bike.
what he says seems quite well-researched and sensible, no?

Although not knowing how unfashionable Foffa bikes are does seem suspect.

  • .

  • Toby's just looking to buy a bike and he's not too biased while doing it.

  • exactly

  • You're probably right but I do feel like he's trying to sell it to me a bit.

  • Toby or not Toby, that is the question.

  • Anyway, all that said, I have a bit of money in my pocket and am on the look out for another bike too! A back up bike... I'm looking to spend in the 5-600 pound range. Can be new, nearly new or good quality old build-up. It needs to be fast, light, comfortable (not too profiled a riding position) and not too showy. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I might look?

    Many thanks, Toby

LFGSS classifieds? better quality, half the price.

  • Toby or not Toby, that is the question.

    ace

  • Toby9797 looks sus and Gaz1979 jumps to his defense?

    It's a conspiracy I say.

  • I'm buying a foffa sale bike

On the cycle to work scheme that'll cost me about 550 over 12 months- not bad eh?

Yes it is that bad. You've missed the theme of this thread completely.

  • Only buying two bikes- the foffa and one other... Don't want to buy the same bike or even the same brand- variety is the spice of life as they say!

The full centaur campag groupset is on the drop handlebar bike foffa do. Original price was around £1300, on sale for 850 and down to 550 when bought through the cycle to work scheme... I'm really not an expert but I do have browse in bike shops every now and again and to get a campag set on a pretty good quality steel frame at that price doesn't seem too bad?

I included the spec for the charge 3 as a comparison- it's the same price as the foffa I'm buying, with a not too dissimilar frame and the components I think seem not as good (as I say I'm no expert and I might just be having a gut reaction to 'campag'). As far as I am aware the charges are not on sale. I'm just saying that this foffa doesn't seem a rip off (which has been the thrust of much of this thread).

As for me being 'suspicious' - after reading through some of the thread I actually predicted some of you might question my authenticity. My name is Toby Whitelock and I have never even met Danni Foffa. I've been to his shop once and tried one of his bikes, that's all.

  • Dani's realised he's toxic and is rebranding himself as a Toby.

    Topgun

it is a new bike with Columbus cromor frame with a full campag groupset. Surely 550 isn't way off what you'd expect to pay?

    Nope, its still a foffa

  • You're right Toby, there's absolutely nothing suspicious about you signing up yesterday, posting two generic comments and then wading into the Foffa thread with a detailed glowing appraisal of their bikes.

  • I know you're new to the forum but there's some great content in the other parts of the site - feel free to explore. Don't just spend all your time watching this thread.

  • Unbelievable! I buy a bike, find a thread absolutely trashing the brand and because I quite like the bike I've spent money on make a few entirely reasonable observations of the quality I'm getting for my money and suddeny I just must be in cahoots with foffa! Incredible!!

Topgun, for you to dismiss any bike made by foffa as rubbish without any analysis seems unfair. The original problem was with them turning out poor value for money bikes right? If my bike is actually a reasonable buy for what I'm getting it should be recognised as such.

  • Tibbly, I would look around the site but my main reason for joining was to get some advice on a second bike because you all seem pretty knowledgeable. I would have started my own thread for this but as a newbie you're not allowed to. It was reading about foffa bikes on a google search that brought me to this forum and this thread in particular. I thought I would respond to the thread and get some advice on that second bike at the same time.
