Actually - Stu is onto a winner. Riding through the Cotswolds would be really nice. I'll see if i can dig out the route map that we rode for the Birmingham to Oxford Jennifer Trust Charity Ride last year.
I've ridden it fixed before - nice.Sounds good!

Can we go past the Hook Norton brewery? :)

2nd that!

If you want to ride 100 miles you need to do 120 really. Aberystwyth to Brum is perfect for that

• #484
I'd be on my Carbon Coppi roadie haha :)

I think the wales route would be the best, coming from the north west is fairly flat and you have to go past places like runcorn and stoke.. coming from Sheffield would be more fun, over the peaks..

I think less hills is best.

This sounds good. Is there a handy sustrans or ctc route that joins the two? who's got ctc membership and can search their routes?

Yeah this looks really good. Google says 112 miles, but that will end up around 130 most likely.
Would it be best to train there and ride home? or ride to the coast and train back? personally i'd prefer the latter..
-
• #489
well the earliest train gets there at 9.30ish which may be a bit late to set off. I'd rather ride back though, then we can be as late as we want.
-
• #490
We can be in bristol for 7.30 to ride back from there. might be a better option.
-
• #491
If you want some nice relatively flat rolling empty roads head east to Leicester via atherstone/magna ,Beautiful wide roads. You wont find a none hilly bike friendly route back from Bristol.
-
• #492
East sounds good (flat) but we'd need to get the train back to get the tailwind effect.
Also, we could just do a loop...
-
• #493
Its gonna be boring if its all flat...
-
• #494
Lets see what this bristol/oxford/birmingham route looks like.
-
• #495
no loops!
-
• #496
I don't think it's going to be *flat *flat, just regular midlands flat.
-
• #497
flat = dull. you need some big hills to take your mind off the distance, then the distance isn't the problem, its just getting up the hills. Plus hills = good views. I haven't been east much, but what i've seen when i have been is dull uninspiring flat windy wasteland. You've been to cambridge, remember the journey? no, me neither.

I think so, I have a cycle network map, can't remember what number though
Train back is a bit of an anticlimax as youre stuck in a cramped seat after giving your legs a battering
