Let's go and Ride

I may go out on Sunday for a 50 miler, if I can't persuade three other cool people to play urban hammerball.

So does anyone go out and ride their bikes? I'm talking 40 mile+ rather than a trip to the shop for some milk or twatting a ball with a big stick?

Yes we do. We just happened to be away riding 980 miles! Looking forward to getting back on the bike for some more relaxed rides once I've sorted out some mechanicals.

A few of us are heading out Earlswood Lakes way to do a loop in an hour or so if anyone fancies it? Leaving from Hall Green. Drop me a line and we'll wait for you.

Now I've got the Raleigh up and running I want to get a few longer autumnal rides in at the weekends - nothing to speedy to start with as I'm out of shape but a decent distance at least, anyone up for that?

Yes tom i'm in. will have the dawes re-built by next weekend. Saturday would be better for me.

I've got a good loop that mr spinwell took me on last year. Starts city centre, loops out near earlswood, then out around Alvechurch and Barnt Green (having a go at Rose Hill if needed?), finally coming back into the city via selly. 30miler.
Happy to join you and lead out if you get stuck for ideas?

Rode the 11 Outer circle route (anti-clockwise) this morning - Always wanted to do it since i started cycling as it's right on my doorstep. 26 miles all in - left at 7 and took 2 hours (not bombing it obviously)

Was fairly pleasant - Very little traffic, reasonable condition roads with the odd exception - Not as many dual carraige way bit's as i'd expected, and mostly suburban - Didn't go through as many sketchy/industrial areas as I thought it would. Hills throughout, nothing to challenging but lots of them - Hall green to Stechford mostly flat/downhill. Fairly easy to navigate (just follow the bus stops)

I used to do that route on a saturday morning. The earlier you set out the better, for obvious reason. It's far froom the quiet countryside routes I do now but not a bad ride at all. Got dissed for suggesting it on here though. I think it's impossible to do in much less than two hours due to all the traffic lights.
