Overlap is ok. I met my girlfriend whilst I was seeing somebody else. It was totally innocent, no cheating as such.

I don't think cheating is a good idea, but neither of you are 'snakes'. Just do something and live with it. It's unlikely that all parties wont come off better in the long run whatever happens.
