So damn nice.
What does one of these go for?
-
• #9803
£3,250 is what I'll list it for priced to sell, but might be able to do something for a fellow forumer ;)
-
• #9804
If only.
What you replacing with?
-
• #9805
Cant blame me for trying. Very slim chance Honda VTR 1000 SP1 but more likely an old Honda Civic.
-
• #9806
Honda........ civic?
Hmmmm
EK9?
-
• #9808
Already owned that shape so ideally EG6, but can't see many unmolested VTI's existing.
-
• #9809
Do like an EG6.
Also like an EG8.

Would be well up for that but not too sure how insurance/reg works on the undeclared ones. EG with a K20 would be all my adolescent Christmases at once.
-
• #9811
Right! Used to lurk on the EK forum before this one.
I think the idea used to be that because the EG's were so cheap, you'd shove a k20 unit in there and call it a sleeper, declare it as standard then if something happens, they're cheap enough to get another without any major problems.
Now however, you barely see any of them, so finding one is a pain enough that you'll want to declare it as modified. Pretty sure there's a few companies that will insure you on that. Cost however, would be a whole other ball game. -

4 wheels? GTFO >>>>

EF or >>>>
Liked the accord estate of that era, not keen on any 1990-2007 Honda, all just so bubble -
• #9814
You're a massive bubble! You can barely see any curves on the EG series. EF series is up there in the 'use only a ruler to resign a car', but where the hell are you gonna find one now that you can use in the wet and still stay dry?
@DethBeard I hear people also use these things bicycles here. Makes you sick!

Is it just me that feels bikes are getting uglier and uglier?
-
• #9820
what 2nd hand models make good bases for such builds?
It depends what you want and how much you want to spend.
At some point, I really want to build a lightweight small engined bobber style rat bike... from something like a Suzuki Savage... which wasn't available in the UK or a 250cc Honda Rebel.
The obvious choices are jap cruisers. Shadow or older Kawa Vulcans - the 750cc I think and they have the advantage of having a soft-tail-like rear so they look a bit more like a "proper" bobber.
Or can get an old oil cooled gsxr or bandit and build a custom hard tail on one of the hard up choppers frames - although I sort of think you're better buying someone else's project.

Sooo...speed wobble. It seems like a massive pit to dig into with many variables. I pushed the bike a couple of times (not on public roads) and that shit is hair raising. I know the SV isn't exactly designed to sit at 120 for long periods, but how do I find cause to the effect?
-
• #9823
Do you have bar end weights?
Or is it vibrations that they suppress? -
• #9824
worn tyres? bad pressures?
-
• #9825
Speed wobble or weave? Weave is gently unsettling, full blooded tankslapping utterly terrifying. Usually different things that cause them too.
Weave often a function of worn / unevenly worn tyres on roadbikes. Also too soft rear shocks, lack of damping and too much sag. You'd notice it going fast in a straight line or through gently sweeping corners.
Tank slappers are a different beast.
Reverting the ZX-6RR back to stock in prep for selling and can't help feeling a part of me is dying!
