what day are you going?

i'm thinking of going tomorrow morning actually. I usually go early sunday but i was hoping tomorrow might be better. I'm usually done in an hour and a half. There's only so many stands with 'if you can read this the bitch fell off' tshirts i can smile at. Hoping i'll be back pretending to be productive by the afternoon.

How much do I want one of these?
-

is that an FTR223 or a proper race bike? I almost bought an ftr at xmas but just couldn't justify spending the cash on it, even though i could really do with a commuter. If it's an FTR it's had the front end swapped out for something propper.
They had the daddy at the bike show though; a harley xr750. One of those replicas from mule http://mulemotorcycles.net/streettrackers-1.html
would do me just fine.B.

upside down forks looks the nuts don't they
the last two bikes have them and they look delicious -

I think it's a converted XR600.
Strangely, I do like the USD front end. Normally am a bit of a fusspot for conventionals on flattrackers.
Stick 'Kenny Roberts Indy Mile' into youtube for the greatest Flattrack noise ever. What beasts those TZ750s were.

I've been hankering after a triumph thruxton for years - even though i know they are a bit more show than go - and this lil vid just made me want one even more.

Spent a day out on the 1150Adv today. Not matter how many times I ride that machine, I never tire of it.
That's all. If you know, you'll know.

Mad styling.
Looks like it belongs in the Lloyds TSB advert.

Is the squirrel relevant? It's not relevant.
Bank ads - wank.

Built in 1936, looks like it was owned by the original incarnation of Batman.

The forks remind me of the AMPs that I had on an early Cannondale MTB...

^ that looks like fun. I'm planning a roadtrip this summer with my mate. If I ever get my bike put back together. We're thinking maybe france into spain but i'm not quite sure how reliable my 32 year old steed will be. Maybe we should just plan on getting to croyden first.
vids like that and the better in the wind one really make me want to get out more. Think i've found someone to put my bike back together too - i'm admitting defeat on this one as i just can't find the time. Roll on the summer.

If you're prepared to travel you can get one for less than 4K.
They do seem to really hold their value though. It's a bit of a beast, and until I changed the tyres I didn't like riding it, but since then I've grown to love mine.
Throw away the standard Metzeler tyres and get Avon Roadriders fitted (in the standard sizes). Get the loud pipes, and get the air injection kit removed.
As far as the performance goes, there's loads of low-end grunt from 2000 rpm or so, so getting off the line will embarrass any 4 cylinder bike, and there's always overtaking grunt. There's plenty of go. You can go get a Wiseco big bore kit and other things and tune it to 90bhp or so. (beware though. start tuning a bike and you'll get addicted, and poor) If you want to tune it, you're best going for the earlier (pre 2006?) carburettor model. This drinks more but can make a lot more power than the EFI model as it doesn't have to meet any emissions regs.

that's a beautiful bike, i saw that a while back when i was lusting over one. I think they are better with the rims repainted in black, but the rest of that is lush. I'd settle for the cosmetic mods alone.
I've always quite fancied this one:

but with matt black tank and panels. Sort of blows my fictional 5K budget but i guess as it's fiction I can afford it...B.

RC45? Lovely.
I have a chum with a very nice race-kitted RC30 - still one of the all time great road bikes for me.
