It's from 1979 and has only done 22400 which really isn't that bad at all. I'm having a bit of a back and forth conundrum tbh. I keep swaying between picking up a cg125/cbr125, or a 2009-ish gt 125 Vespa. I live in Camden, so quite central and it would mostly be for arsing around on/ not having to use the bike or public transport to get everywhere.
What do you guys think? The thing I like about the scooter is the idea of wearing any clothes and just jumping on it to go somewhere, seems a bit less hassle free

I would buy the Honda and leave it as unmolested as possible, had one when I was younger and they're quite fun to ride... that looks like a clean example and they run forever.

Agree with TM - really good bikes, just keep your eye on the electrics ( charging ) because of the age.

Second this, mine is going strong. Question about battery charge - I can still kick start mine with a fully flat battery I think, any advantage to keeping battery topped up?

the headlights and the indicators work at the same time?

Cheers guys! need to have a big sit down with myself and finally make a decision. I do think the Honda would be more enjoyable, and would be better for a potential transition onto something a bit bigger at a later date

Mildly obsessing over a Yamaha MT-10, looks a hoot, but potentially ridiculous for commuter duties.
I do want something punchier than my transalp, but still needs to be suitable for m25 filtering and a 198cm tall rider

You're guaranteed a lot of fun on the cg.
Just remember that when you remove the chain guard you increase your maintenance load considerably. I know they look nice stripped down, but I hate cleaning chains.

How's about FZS1000 - yes older bikes, but super punchy, 50 plus mpg, rock solid reliability and comfy ( I'm 194cm ). Going for around 2000 at the moment although maybe you'll want something more modern for the styling ? Just an idea.

Cheers guys.
Bandit 1250s is on my radar too.
Not fully in the market yet, the tranny is ok, just hoping to still get an ok amount on resale/px -

Did my first commute from my new place this morning. About an hour. Some shit traffic but not too bad.
Luckily the max speed is 50mph which my 125cc does easily. But I'm still now thinking about a bigger bike.
I still like the idea of a Hornet overall. Not the most exciting choice, but seems practical.
Does anyone have any advice?
I'm ideally looking to spend as close to a grand as possible.

My neighbours bike has been nicked. That's two for him since he moved in. And mine was tried: they broke some bits but didn't get away with it. Add countless car break-ins and bicycle vandalism and it's all getting rather annoying. Supposed to be a secure car park. Police are apparently going to put a watch on the place.

Looks in good condition, they're pretty good economical bikes in standard form. Do you really need to customise a decent bike?
-
• #7717
Shit, that's a worry. Where are you? You're welcome to store the bike in my garage while they're resolving the security.

Thanks chap. I'm SE, between Catford and Bromley. But I'm not overly worried. They seem to want auto scooters more than my rattly contraption. Not sure what they're being used for... My neighbour is doing the knowledge on a plastic scooter of some sort and he seems to be taking the brunt of it.

Used in nicking other bikes. Or burnt out and dumped.

Glad you are still here.
Metatarsal...pah that's a poncy footballers injury. There is a whole thread about it ;)
Also streetfightered ducati plans...

There's been a recent spate of mobile phone/bag snatching by lads on stolen scooters. Ride past/onto the pavement, grab the stuff, ride off. The police don't chase them, particularly if not wearing helmets, for fear of making them crash.
-
• #7722
I can see why they wouldn't want a geared PX125 for that.
-
• #7723
Don't underestimate how easy they are to nick though Sparks, they'll be back...
-
• #7724
No worries. The offer's there if you get nervous.

Ye about 70 mpg I've been told. Im not sure as of yet. Personally I'm not totally besotted with how it looks as is
Keep looking at older CBR600rr's. If I had time to ride one, really like them.
