  • Cb5 is 55 while the 300 in road trim is 40bhp.

Mind you I liked a friends sv700 more than I should.

  • All about that powerband at 6000rpm... They really are fun little bikes.

  • Street was as good as gold, absolutely amazing ride down - two legs - Aberdeen to Liverpool in absolutely howling weather - wind and rain the entire time - everything totally wetted out, soaked and freezing the whole time - Liverpool to Bournemouth weather amazing, huge average speed - M6 toll an absolute joy, nothing on it!

Kriega tailpack and tankbag superb, so glad I invested in that system. Standard seat no problem, ass was fine - happy days

  • Maybe not the fastest or best handling but it depends on the rider...

  • Wow. Same guy, same CB500; iffy moment at 2:18.

  • My bike had a recall on the rear wheel, got a call from the dealer when it should have been ready with some guff about the fuel pump. They had to keep the bike overnight. I had a gutless loan bike in the meantime.
Next day picked the bike up and the fuel gauge doesn't work. Back in and they claimed "it is just a massive coincidence"
I had to book the bike back in and was very grumpy, they quoted me £200 plus to fix something they broke. Once apart they found that it was indeed their fault so nothing to pay.
In the meantime they loaned me a S1000R

And it was sunny. I had the whole day ragging it as best I could. Utterly ferocious acceleration, and braking is like running into a wall. Want.

  • Only a 20 hour drive and two ferry journeys to fetch that...

    :)

  • And the bike from the videos.

  • But it is cheap ;)

  • What, made it uncomfortable?

  • There is a cheap kwak gt550 in dartford....

  • Made it pretty

  • name and shame!

Also love those bmw. Too nice.

  • Just wanted to share my experience with one of the south london garages.
I had a puncture on my ybr125 on my rear tyre few months ago so I took it to the nearest place, Ahsan Scooters in Streatham. They have fitted a new michelin tyre, it looked a bit slim but I never looked at it closely. All was fine until about a week ago when I saw a cable clip stuck in it when I was about to go to work in the morning. I put some air in it and went to work, after work I went to Chas Bikes.
What they told me really pissed me off:

    1. They fitted front tyre to rear wheel, wrong size
    2. Tyre was a tubed type, I have a tubeless rim
    3. They didn't even put the tube in
Guy at Chas put a tube in and told me to go back to them and to have a word with them about it.
Later that evening I went to Ahsan and they didn't even argue with me about it so I think they do that quite often.
They ordered the correct tyre and replaced it but I will never use them again.

  • Spent the day exploring Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire yesterday. Really enjoyed the B1057:

  • Yep they seem quite poor when I used to hang around next door, at the bike shop.

  • Saw this little chopper the other day and thought it was awesome, just so simple. Could n't see any branding on it at all.

  • Pls can someone point me to some decent reading about electric scooters. Or give me a recommendation.

I think I might want one for work, which is a number of shortish journeys, max of 40 miles a day, usually in <10 mile chunks.

Electricity power would seem ideal but I don't want one if they're all shit.

  • I came off second best today when one car tried overtaking another without realising I was coming the other way. Clipped me and sent me off the road and into (fortunately) a grass verge and a hedge. Foot in plaster, less skin on my right arm and hip than before and bike, no doubt, written off.

Still, I get to see Leicester's last game of the season tomorrow, so life is still pretty sweet.

  • Sad times Mark - hope you heal up properly and have no ill effects after all this.

Still, at least you can look forward to the Leicester game as well as the prospect of looking out for a new bike!

  • terrible news markyboy
    heal up quickly

  • Horrible.
Glad to hear it's not worse though! Could have been very nasty.

I take it the other driver stuck around etc?

  • Thanks guys. Yes, she did hang around - more shook up than me - as did the car she pulled out to, who saw the incident in her rear view. Police who attended reckon she's probably facing driving with due care. Who knows, once the insurers get involved.

Fracture clinic tomorrow and trying to reclaim what's left of my bike from a very helpful local's driveway.

    Ride safely everyone.
