Nope, totally analogue! Changed it about 18 mongs back but just stuck a new one in, haven't stress tested it yet

So points ignition then, they can temperamental at the best of times. If the fuel is really stale too it might be fouling the plug by not burning throughly.

Modern fuel doesn't like sitting around.

I was really worried about the fuel going off, but my bike sat under a sheet for more than a year, connected to a trickle charger, with half a tank of petrol. Started first time and rode for two hours without so much as a hiccup.

Smaller cc bikes have more of an issue, smaller tubes in the carbs.

They should never allow those things to be shot in groups. Immediately kills all pretence of custom/special about them.

Anyone know the difference between an ngk cr7xxx plug and a cr9xxx plug? Is it the temperature or the internal resistance?

Just found scooter had a cr7xxx plug when book says 9 is the right one. So ordered the latter as well as a bunch of jets to start messing it up.

Also drained stinky 4 year old fuel mixed 1:1 with fresh fuel. Everything clean but idling like crap and boggs at higher revs despite no fuel flow issue. New fuel in clean tank much better but still slightly boggy, Internet folk say that's normal as they are under jetted to comply with restriction regs and increase economy, hence more jet going on it

It's how hot it runs. Hotter better for long runs at high revs and tuned motors, cooler better for stop start and round town. I run NGK BR8ES in my lammy which is somewhere in between

Deduced the cr7xxx is a hotter plug intended for more pottering about, it's Base material is hotter so avoids sooting up. For me cr9xxx is poss better as do a lot more "high speed" (lol) stuff so plug runs cooler but will soot up if bumbling around.

you can always do plug chops to make sure your jetting is correct with that plug too

Slow puncture. So obviously I've done the sensible thing and bungee-corded a track pump to the seat. Anyone in SE got a jack that'll lift up the back of the Vespa and let me change the tyre out? Did it last time with a teetering pile of tool boxes with @inchpincher and that's not a route I want to go down again in a hurry.

Got a slow puncture too, drops about 5psi a week but tyre carcass fine, coming out of the bead so reckon rotted wheel paint. Off to powder coaters at some stage...

take panels off and lean over on some cardboard boxes, always used to do that!

If its leaking from rhe bead, get the thre off and scrub any corrosion off with a wire brush. Sorted my old cbf125 out like that

A cheap £10 bottle jack from Screwfix or Machine Mart will assist but be aware of the scooters instability, only raise the rear wheel just clear off the ground and be careful once the wheel's off. Are you just gonna swap it for the old one? Why not just go to the shop that fitted the tyre and get them to repair it, they'll strap the scooter down which is 100% safer! Or lean it over like 8ball said, preferably without a full tank of fuel.

Shamefully I'm putting the new one on. Never got around to it! I have a wee torque wrench for fragile bike bits and a mahooosive one for hub nuts, but nothing in the middle, which had put me off trying thus far. But now I'm leaking air I'll need to have a go. Will just do it with spanners and guess at the torque.

I'm in Grove Park. Already got the tyre mounted on the rim, just need to whack it on and torque up the five bolts. Laziness and a bit of apprehension have been putting me off, but now I've got some motivation to pull my finger out. May pop into a Lidl on my way home!
