  • Just sold my 125 and passed my das, going to pick up new bike on Thursday, a Kawasaki Versys.

    Stoked!

  • It's such a great feeling isn't it. Congrats! Exciting times ahead.

  • Just had the KTM tested yesterday and just sorted out the tax. Guy at the garage said he was over run with bikes as all the fairweather bikers like me break the bikes out from under cover.

Just need somewhere to go / a reason to use it now...

Is there any baffles in that ^^^ GSXR exhaust? Looks car alarm triggeringly loud.

    B.

  • Congrats. Versys looks awesome. You going for the 650?

  • Thanks!

Yeah going for the 650. Found one on eBay with panniers and a gps included.

  • Congrats. They always seemed cracking bikes.

  • M_A_X i am planning to emulate you!

Got my CBT tomoz, eyeing up a 2009 Yam YBR125 for learning the ropes on (over my initial £800 budget, closer to £1200), do full test over the summer, gets me a Versys (i like the height and upright riding position, suits my MTB background)

  • anyone using a helmet cam? I was looking at the cheapest Go Pro - the £94 one - anyone used, any recommendations?

  • Still can't pick up the Vespa as there's apparently a wiring fault that's affecting the lights. Missing this glorious weekend...

My mate text me and said "the electrics are supposed to be broken on a PX".

  • I have a great beginners flip-front BOX SZ1 helmet. Brand new in box. Same as this: http://bit.ly/1EqyIJ8 Going for £60?

  • Hi guys, I hope I'm in the right place for this. For my machine I got a 90cm3 4stroke engine. I fitted a Megatron exhaust and welded the longest possible DB killer inside it. The engine sounds like a Harley and although that is great, it's not legal. Any tips on making it as silent as possible? I don't wish to destroy the looks of it but I also don't like to be a cop magnet. I don't mind a little power loss.

Picture for reference, still a work in progress. Everything is custom. Everything that's metal-grey is stainless steel.

  • Fired up and cleaned the Primavera for the first time in months, only took a few kicks, not bad for a 39 year old

  • The bodywork and paint is in shocking shape, I wanted to repair it but it's just be too much. I can strip and rebuild myself, but I've got a bad feeling it wouldn't survive the paint stripping process, and there's a bit of filler in one side so the economical powder coat route is out of the picture. Anyone want to do it for free and I'll tattoo your company logo on my forehead?

  • Got my CBT done, accidentally bought a CBf125 this morning. Hopefully picking it up Wednesday.

  • Picking up the Vespa on Friday. It'll be the first time I've had a vehicle on the road in ~14 years. How do I get taxed and insured? The garage is MOTing it tomorrow, which I believe is a prerequisite for taxing? I presume it's no longer a Post Office job? Then once I'm taxed I can insure it, right? I've got a quote saved for that from Carole Nash, TPFT.

Bit nervous about riding it away from shop!

  • I insured mine today, picking it up tomorrow, then taxing it when i get home.

You need the V5 to get the tax, you only need the numberplate to get insured.
Insurance is needed for Tax, not tother way.
    I think.

  • To tax it needs Mot and valid insurance. These are all checked online but I think the PO can still do it too. You don't need anything to insure it but for the policy to be valid you need the Mot.

Just take it easy driving off the forecourt, save the wheelies for next week.

  • Will I be OK to ride home untaxed then? Is that legal, like driving to MoT centre un-MoTd used to be?

  • Good luck all you new riders too, the weather is cheering up and there's nowt finer than sunny days spent riding two wheels.

  • My instinct is no, as long as you have it mot'd and insured you can tax it instantly online.

  • INSURE IT FIRST!!!

You cannot legally ride it to/from the MoT (or anywhere else) without insurance.
Tax online once the MoT is done.

  • often you can pay the garage to tax it for you. then you just need to be insured.

  • That's true, I bought a vehicle recently and although I'd dragged my dad along to drive it home (he was covered on his policy) I needed the dealer to pop to post office to tax it using his insurance. When you sell a vehicle now the tax automatically ceases to be and is refunded to the previous owner, no such thing as 'one years tax and mot' anymore.

  • Just tried to pay tax online - dealer sent me numbers from V5 - but it wouldn't let me. So I went to Post Office, no joy. They offered to sell me a new V5 application for £25 instead, then I could pay tax. Bah.

So I now need to go and buy scooter, leave it there, pay tax at Post Office and return following day to collect it and ride home. What nonsense.
