Yeah he completed Buy It Now, which is why I'm pissed off. If he hadn't, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Now I think I'll be charged 1% of £3200 even though he only paid £2800, which might not be much, but still. My pops is a good guy, was even considering giving him a load of leather panniers and extras and stuff, he didn't deserve that.
Yeah right enough, your final value fee will reflect the eBay sale price. Could contact the buyer and suggest a cancelation of the sale which may mean no final value fee to be paid.

Good shout - I'll give this a go

I'm picking up a Honda pcx125:
The CBT itself was very easy. Really enjoyed it and the instructor was excellent. I'll get more road experience over the next month or two and then do my full license.
Just had a look at Soul's scoot - makes a lot of sense in London, I have to say. And on a sunny day like today it looks like a lot of fun too. Vroom vroom.

Had an absolutely lovely day out on my bike yesterday with the missus. up the coast to a place called Carpenteria for some delicious fresh fish tacos. then back through the Ojai valley (very green for So-cal - looks more like Italy someplace.) Rounded out by coming back over one of my fave canyons back from Santa Clarita into LA. About a 160 miles of mostly twisties with some nice cruising by the sea thrown in. Perfect low 70s sunshine. Magic

You'd think with all the fucking thousands I had spent on that Vespa of mine, including a completely new fuel tank, hoses, fuel tap and carburettor, completely new electrical system, wiring loom and ignition included, and a total engine rebuild with new exhaust, that finally, finally it might make it to the end of my road without dying on me.
No such fucking luck. It would appear that unreliable Italian shit is unreliable italian shit no matter what you do to try and make it cope with the shock of actually being used. Cunt of cunts.

Gutted man. Mine seems to be bullet-proof at the moment. The only thing weighing on my mind is the fact that I need to renew my CBT, tax and MOT, and I've got a ride on Sunday
-
• #4759
It's why I left the thing to rot for so many years in the first place. At the moment I'm just thinking of either draining the fuel and never riding it again, or selling it for a fraction of what it's cost me and say goodbye to motorcycles forever. I hate it right now.
-
• #4760
Does the engine just give up? Shouldn't the work be covered by warranty?
-
• #4761
Yeah, it just died and refused to restart.
There is so little to go wrong on an old Vespa, and yet somehow they always manage to. I guess it boils down to the fact that for several components it simply isn't possible to buy a part which isn't shit.
Either it flooded or there's a fuel blockage or there's some electrical problem. I guess the work should be covered.
I just don't want to have to deal with any of that shit right now, so I don't care to try and find out which until the weekend. By that time I might be able to be polite on the phone too, which isn't likely today. -
• #4762
Have you left it unused for a bit? Could be water in the fuel...my old man just had exactly that problem.
-
• #4763
Nope, I'd done 4 or 5 miles on it this morning in fact.

fucking thousands, Vespa, dying on me.

Yeah, it refused. isn't possible to buy a part which isn't shit.
deal with any of that shit right now, so I don't care.
Good rant, and I feel your pain. Hope it passes.
Sorry to say this, but there's a 'good' in "white goods".

There's a Venn diagram ruling my life somewhere with "Thinks I Like" and "Thinks That Work" in big circles that I fear will never ever intersect.
It will be the financial and emotional ruin of me.I had a lovely reliable Honda CBR125 once, I even bought it just to spite the Vespa, and make good on all my threats to it when it broke yet again. (Yes I know...)
It was a great little bike by every rational measure. And once I passed my test I couldn't wait to get rid of it. -

Thanks for that, it's pure gold.
Unfortunately, I have a moustache, a Guzzi and a Belstaff jacket, so a lot is it is very close to the bone.
Bollocks, I even have a custom painted Davida lid. There is no hope for me. -
• #4769
Ah shite, are custom painted Davidas the realm of the motorcycle hipster now? I was gonna try painting mine as it's quite chipped.
Dunno that any paint job would/could make it sit well with the KTM right enough.

"Here is yet another commercial for some jeans, this time a bunch of funemployed mechanics take a ride from London to Biarritz, a beach resort in the south of France.
Why is it when one of these groups of perfectly coiffed chin hair enthusiasts get together to shoot a video, one of them inevitably has to turn some wrenches? It’s usually on the side of the road and always in range of a fancy camera. Do these denim engineers not check this shit before they leave home? Has no one figured out how to sell Loctite to hipsters?
Hey Loctite marketing dept, this is how you sell to these beardos,- Change your name to “Old Pappy’s Hold Em Serum” in a swooshy font
- Make your product available in pomade tins
- Charge $50 for it
- Make it available in coffee shops.
Boom! We’ll be expecting our check in the mail."

The idiots guide to bike exif is pretty good too.
I've got such an itch to buy a new bike but need to sort out the old cb750 in the garage first. Planning to clean the carbs this weekend then try and get it MOT'd in the next week or so. What I really want is a ktm 690sm with akras or a guzzi griso. Just need to find that money tree.
The dust covered thing in the garage is a '79 CB with dirt track tires and I have an open face ruby helmet. So that site was pretty close to my bone as well. It's not been running for at least a year and a half though so i'm deeming it pre-hipsterfication.

Decided just to fork out the extra for the proper levers.
~~Back with some more questions.I need a new brake lever and a front brake light switch.
I found a guy who has / can get spare parts for my Derbi, but he hasn't got back to me and I want to order asap.
I've found these front brake light switch:
but re the front brake are they all pretty much interchangeable? ie would this one work?

I did this when i sold my triumph, then got my dad to outbid everyone. I let the auction run and then we mutually agreed not to go ahead with the sale. no probs!
