Yep I'm liking that too, good work fella.

and I swear 1000 pupils turned round to wish they were born in the 70's/80's.
By one year I'm just in that club, but yes never a truer word spoken.

Oh a bit of advice, check the rear caliper as upside down calipers catch all the crud so its difficult to get the pads out.

Was on the bike yesterday riding past a local school just after 3pm, and I swear 1000 pupils turned round to see what the awesome drone was.
Marvellous. Used to judge exhaust magnificence by the turn out for the 4pm fly past outside the girls school in King St.
(eh-hem...long time ago etc......)

Ah good tip, I've had the rear pads out to check if they needed replacing and it was very easy. Will keep that in mind though.

Tanya's one nice looker
My eyes, every time...
Good work Jambon, fettling a bicycle is good; fettling a motorbike is ...muuoorz. It's got more to reward lateral thinking, needs more tools, and goes faster. (you 14000 rpm loon)

When are we meeting to arrange everything? We should attend some LFGSS drinks the whole of us soon. I'll stop at south tonight, but I understand this is a short notice. Can we agree to meet at South Drinks next monday?

Being offered a very tidy looking '06 CBF500 with ~60,000 miles on, but with a full service history from the dealer it was bought from, for £1,350. Seem like a good idea or not?
-
• #2946
nope.
I bought a very tidy '04 600 Bandit from a dealer with under 4k on it for 1850.
keep looking, there's some amazing buys out there, even from dealers. I went to look at an '04 SV650 with 6k on it for 2 grand as well in Oxford. -

Any bike with 60k mileage on it will be shagged. FSH or not.
Plus if it's a CBF500 it will have been shagged by a bike courier.
You can buy an awful lot of bike for a grand. -

You can buy an awful lot of bike for a grand. This has only had one owner and it's clearly been well looked after, no couriering: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170919155595?nma=true&si=E49epFmLRG%2Bx7sjCj0nW%2FLzxWLo%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true
Thing is, there aren't many bikes that actually appeal to me. I like the Hondas, Triumph Bonnevilles, Moto Guzzi V7, maybe the Kawasaki W800, but that's about it. The idea of a CBF500 appeals most because it's relatively cheap, I learned on it, and there won't be too much power to get me in trouble for the first couple of years.

Come to think of it, what am I saying? It sold for less than that and he says there are higher offers but that's probably nonsense. He reckons the highest bidder wanted to pay in monthly installments!
Walking away...

Thats why I bought a GPZ, coz it was essentially an er5 that i learned on, it was great to get to know it and i felt comfortable as soon as i got on it.
However - the bandit is so modern, it is just streets ahead of the er5, its just so much easier to ride.
We were lucky I guess.
Looking great, I wouldn't have expected the clear screen to look so much better.
