If I had 400 I'd make it a proper track-day tool... which makes me think - this is exactly what my GSX-R750 was intended to be but turned out to be a bit to powerful for my current skills.

Oh yeah and if you have any money left over, spend it on getting the suspension serviced and sticky tyres.
NC30 has two tyre choices and both are sticky enough.

250 two stroke.........rgv250 or rs250 fucking aces bigger bikes will beat you in the straights while on the bends you will out corner them, and rub his your knee, elbow, shoulder and not follow it on your arse.

I had the B1H until a crash last December. Great bikes for straightline speed. Stiff and handling a bit iffy but nice to beat new models that were 600's on roads I knew when they revved it up. :D

Want to do a full service and replace the front fairing (including the pink screen) in time as it's a patent part.
Just need to get insurance sorted, from looking at only one comparison site, £290 for a 23 year old passed last week DAS rider.
Any insurance tips/companies welcome.Oh and it's loud :)

Is that insurance quote fully comp or TPFT? Where do you live and is it garaged?
Looks like a lot of fun btw

nice jambon. i forgot to ask where's the all smiles, instructor + pupil + certificate photograph?

TPFT: garaged, minimal annual mileage, live @ AL7. When talking to older riders they're shocked at the price, but I just think that's what it is for a younger rider on a grey import type bike. VFR quotes where in the £400's so it could be worse.

Thanks, my instructor wasn't the most affable character. As a bloke I'm sure he's a top guy, but his teaching methods where inspired from nurse Ratched I'm sure. Saying that, I paid him to pass me and that he did.

Nice. Think that's a great insurance quote too by the way. Sub 300 for anything is always good.
Well done chap!

• #2761
Agreed, it's not a bad price. How much does fully comp come in at? If its significantly more, it's not worth it given you can replace the bike for c. £600
Quotes seem so random these days that it's hardly worth recommending insurers - they're cheap for one person and expensive for another. Presumably you've got some kind of insurance rated lock, immobiliser, alarm, datatag, etc? It might get the premium down a little and pay for itself over a couple of years.

• #2762
Fully comp pretty much adds £100 to the price so I'm out, and that's the same over most insurers.
It was a bit of a stupid question to be fair, in order to get the cheapest quote you need to answer the required questions with the lowest/highest variable.
I haven't got any security devices bar being in a garage, so will look into other devices against the premium.
Sorry to derail the thread with the least exciting part of motorcycles.... Here's a Ducati -

Yep. good for me.
Insurance - usual suspects are Carole Nash, Bennetts and Motorcycle Direct.
I had my quote drop like a stone when I sold my 125 and bought a 400. Grey imports just don't have a high theft and accident profile it seems. -

26th, 27th & 28th October Ride! Confirmed list!!
-BlueQuinn (Triumph)
-CoppiThat (BMW)
-veLLo & T4NY4 (Suzuki)
-kuba (loud Triumph)
-Vanuden (please confirm!)OK almost everybody has confirmed, I spoke to CoppiThat yesterday who confirmed he would have his passport ready on time. Thanks BlueQuinn and Kuba for confirming on the thread. Tanya's in too, presumably on the 1100G with me. Vanuden are you still on?
Marky, no chance of joining still? Come on!
Of course more names are welcome! (Jambon on your new bike maybe?)
OK, I know a 4 day trip was requested by BlueQuinn, but I'm not sure I could do this, plus with accomodation it starts becoming a bit pricey.
I suppose we are still going to Saint Malo. I suggest the following agenda:
-Thursday 25th October, we meet in Parsons Green (like last year) for a departure around 20h00. Boat departs at Portsmouth at 23h00.
-Friday 26th October, arrival in Le Havre at 8h00 am. Breakfast at some nice caf (as opposed to last time it won't be holiday times and on a friday everything should be openned). We can travel west at a nice comfy pace, and have lunch around Coutances in La Manche, were my parents live. I don't want to invite us all for lunch my mum would stress to much and it would be too much work, but maybe aperitif. I'm sure they would be able to recommend some nice restaurant. We can then reach Saint Malo in the evening, take our rooms, dinner, drinks and whatever.
-Saturday 27th October. To be decided. We can ride around and find nice places to visit / nice roads. A friend of mine who is a biker and leaves not far could join us, recommend some good routes maybe? Are we staying saturday night in Saint Malo or should we find another place? (to be discussed)
-Sunday 28th October. Wherever we wake up, we can make our way back peacefully to Le Havre, stopping for food, site viewing... Back to le Havre for boarding at 17h00, arrival in Porthmouth at 21.30 (I know BlueQuinn was not so keen on travelling late like this, especially since it may be quite cold this time of year, and possibly raining... But otherwise we may loose some time in France...? Any suggestion? http://ldlines.co.uk/ Please have look and bring alternatives...)OK this is just a basic preliminary thing. I did not join the last ride to Saint Malo but those who did may want to suggest something.
Lets the brainstorming begin!

I'm still looking for a suitable 125! But yes I may be a barnacle on your 1100 if that's ok :)

Sleep on the way back and arrive in Blighty during the daylight hours.
You might need to book that day off work but you wouldn't need another night's accommodation, and then we get all day Sunday to enjoy our ride back and the places we encounter, rather than having to race back at silly speeds. -

I'm in. Undecided whether to take the XTZ750 or the Katana 1100 but need this break, have been working too hard for too long and this trip would ba an ideal diversion.
What's the score on booking ferries and accommodation and so on?
