Pretty much.
Edit - they magically found a new quote over the phone for Ā£3 less than last year. Strange.

Never trust insurance companies! -

Ah just seen your added picture. Looks rad and no less purposeful than the new version.
I still reeeeally want a T7 and with a house move and an expensive and difficult rural commute, I may look at something like this next year.

Took the R9T on an inaugural (tentative) green lane jaunt with a much more experienced pal* to give some pointers. Road tyres not the most confidence inspiring, will find something middling when theyāre dead I reckon.
Quite weird riding something I cycle a lot, but backwards and with a 1200cc engine
*pictured, I was on the camera and not looking cool enough for any photo evidence

the ones you want to take you to the trails (Africa Twin/BMW GS) and the ones you want to ride on the trails (KTM/Husky 250)
I discovered a compromise doing nav rallies in Ireland. Riding trails on a GS you do it in groups of 4, because you'll never get the bike out of the bog without 3 helpers. It's still a bit crap though. The people with a DRZ and a van had the best time. And they didn't break anything.

Good work! Iāve not really found the 80/20 type tires confidence inspiring. Theyāre subtly better that street rubber but proper knobblies are a different world. You can get along ok but avoid anything steep or sandy. Donāt load up the front.

You donāt wanna be the guy with a BMW headlight in pieces after the cock on a T7 roosts everyone because he thinks heās badass.

I had a varedero 1000 for a couple of years, Iād had a firestorm before and also had a varedero as a work bike before spending my own cash on one.
This was a few years back but I remember it as a good bike, comfortable for long days and a stompy engine. Had it completely flat out a few times and it was pretty stable and good handling. I recall it being quite tall (and Iām 6ā1ā ish). I donāt recall any issues with it and I only moved it on as I the Hinckley bonneville had come out and caught my eye. As I said the engine was used on the firestorm so any issues should be quite well publicised. -

Iāll definitely be giving it another go with the current tyres as theyāre pretty new and apparently v good on the road (mutants). Overall the bike is still quite fresh to me and Iām rusty on riding any surface after a few years with my last bike off the road. Working v hard on my cornering and trying not to end up in ditches

This Ducati 900ss looks like a pretty good deal.
And this review by Hunter S Thomson makes me want it even more.

Good choice!
Doubt youād ever lose money on it. I think theyāre incredibly charming and with some tweaks, great to ride. Hereās mine - itās quite a long way from standard but is ace. Sounds incredible.
Theyāre also straightforward and satisfying to work on too, not that Iāve had to do much.

Appreciate it! And totally get you ! That klr ticks all the city boxes for me, but Iāve been riding a ktm 690 over last year and the torque really spoiled me, itās addictive

If cheap enough, why not. It is a firestorm engine isn't it....but that might have been the small tank.

Go on then, message me and I'll give you the low down on the Ducati what to look at.
Haha, I've got the mx boots, in boot pants and adv helmet so I'm halfway there :)
I stopped by bike night on the way home with it and happened into this little family reunion... 32 years apart.
