I got all excited at the word 'removed', thinking the scaffolding might be gone for good! It's a pity to have it on such an elegant bike. Crushable sylinder head covers would suffice IMO. And they don't try to tear chunks out of your sump when you crash.

Both those bikes look good! Modern BMWs elegant? - more brutalist, functional chic, perhaps?
I spent altogether too long putting the top end back on the RM last night, only to decide to take it off again. So it goes sometimes...

I tried to buy the machine art ones but they don’t make them for a 2021 urban GS .
I know what you mean but the black shrinks them , plus a couple of spotlights(in yellow) later might look good mounted on them. -

Yellow spots on bars are always lovely - triggers memories of gendarmerie bikes from an old arthouse film. Pukka!

I rode my R80 and R1150RS back to back and prefered the R80. This was a town only ride though.

Modern BMW's look great though. Just more than enough power and weight higher up.

Elegant compared to the 1250GS, i.e. a bomb in a Lego factory. It's not just that bike, the whole industry seems to have a bitty design language at the moment. It makes my K look like something from the future. I'm sure it gets more compliments now than it did 28 years ago.

There is something special about the boxer engine/shaft drive combo. Sacrificing a lot of performance for reliability. The K's look pretty good though, never ridden one.

K1 was peak future bike but I absolutely agree on the sentiment re: current design language...
I have also always rather liked the F800S too...

The F800s stands out to me too. Not sure about belt drive or the overall personality though.
The RNineT with an S or Bikini fairing is still a bit too much money for me to take a punt on.

The K1 looks like a real world, grown up version of Kaneda's bike in Akira.

Preferred the F800r but I've always quite fancied one too. They sound shit though

A K1 would be one of my lottery projects. Give it a K12 or 13 engine, maybe a turbo, change every possible part for custom made carbon fibre, and try for 200mph. Possibly extend the rear bodywork to make it a streamliner. Probably cost as much as a Honda 213, which would be next to it in the garage.
Failing that, if I keep my K11, which I won't, I'll put a K1 front mudguard on it, like this guy.

I went pillion to Brands Hatch on a K1 with a crazy Scot ex-racer once when I was a kid. He made the dials go all the way around.
Have a mate with an R9 and he loves it. He dragged us down to the local BMW dealer for a look around after a ride a few weeks back and the R9s were the only ones I liked, other than the much improved S1000RR. Had a sit on a GS and they are ENORMOUS, comfy seat mind.

Bike show at Excel this weekend.
Kicking a few tyres and laughing at the HD nobs with my FiL. -

That would be another of my Euromillions projects. I'd start with a Monotracer and cut bits of the roof off. Or maybe a Honda Rune would be better. Can't decide. But it would need to be properly fast, not like the real life ones which have been built so far. Maybe it would need the front end from a Tesi or a Yamaha GTS1000.

Would this suit you sir? £4500, 9k miles. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/275149645410 The problem with them is that they make it ridiculously easy to go very very fast on a twisty road which you don't know. I doubt there's a faster A to B bike in the real world.

Going with my dad. Looking forward to it.
We used to go to bike shows when I was a kid -

I used to have a k1100rs for work when I was doing surveillance work for customs, great bikes and so much better than the k100. The mirror indicator pods had a habit of falling off in tight traffic so I had mine fitted with a cable so they would just dangle. You could ride it all day in comfort and still give it some stick when needed. Conversely I had a k1100lt as my own bike - fucking horrendous, nearly put me off bikes. On the boxers had a r1100rs on big rides one of the fastest bikes point to point. Comfortable and swift. My first big bike was a black and yellow r100gs really should not have sold that one.

That is very nice. Up to the 1200 they only had one oxygen sensor which makes idling problematic. Kind of thing that makes city traffic a bit less fun.

Touring Europe with a pillion would be great on that.

This version of the R Nine T is my favourite outside of some custom versions. Maybe a different paint job. It's 'needs a garage' money though.

You have my permission to buy it, with your own funds.
It seems like a sweet spot if you're commuting or touring and having a bit of fun along the way.
