Don't know but the engine was from the TZR and that was a road bike. So was the frame a dirt bike frame?
So should it be classed as a supermoto, as I though the supermoto thing were dirt bikes with road sized tyres and a bit bigger seat ;)

The Biketrac uses mobile network, GPS and RF, so even if it loses gps in the back of a van, it has a fighting chance of getting a gps signal or rough cellular location in the time between moving from the van to a shipping container. The police can go out to the last known general location and use an rf receiver to locate the bike to within a few feet. The company have been known to send out a rf receiver with an operator if the police don’t have one. So you are both right the faraday cage stops the gps from acquiring a signal and can block the mobile signal but the rf penetrates the container and can be used to locate the bike if those other methods had enough time in the van to container transfer to give a location close enough (normally a few hundred metres will do for rf triangulation).
Strap on a couple of AirTags (one sacrificial tag under the seat and one properly hidden) and you have reasonable odds of a recovery. -

The beep can be silenced with a bit of surgery before you fit them.
They should be considered a cheap add on to supplement a good quality tracker rather than a primary device so the separation alert is not really needed.
The way Apple implemented separation is for you walking away from the tag rather than the tag walking away from you. In the way it’s been done you get notified in about five minutes of loosing contact with the tag unless it is in a trusted location. -

Wiki seems to say the TDR is a dual purpose bike. Not so sure that this is totally accurate, maybe Yamaha advertising? It was a road bike and, maybe, a super moto - before such things existed.
I always liked them, a quick look on eBay revealed prices from £2000 to £8000. Again, something nice to have in your garage - which will need extended!! 😁 -

This is the main problem, no garage. Missed the opportunity to buy the only local one 20 years ago.
The TDR is a bit of a dream for me because of the engine. From memory at the time they were released there were quite a few off road 250 2 strokes, mental noise and speed requiring loads of maintenance and designed to race around muddy tracks before anyone was doing double one hand superman backflips.
The TDR was part of a fairly wide range of off road style frames on road tyres that had performance very similar to road bikes. There was a 50cc 2 stroke similar to the TDR that had similar performance to the fizzie but you could ride around on some paths with some slightly more aggressive tyres on.
I don't even remember seeing or hearing the term supermoto until the huskys started appearing. It does seem as if the TDR preempted the supermoto though I think there must have been kawasaki/honda/suzuki versions.
Yamaha had nailed the ypvs system by then though, it's still a horror show of unburnt oil and basic electronics by todays standards but the engine just demands and rewards hooligan behaviour which fit the supermoto mindset perfectly.
Probably the circa 700cc (husky) class has all the power and speed without the mental powerband and is quite possibly a better bike for it. I'm inclined to look down this route as per @Jung advice.
The 250 twin 2 stroke engines can be fragile. When I had mine it was like funding a crack habit.

I didn't mean to ignore the Ulez comments re your bike. I had given it some consideration because I know you've looked after it and it would be a pretty decent size and style as a sidearm to the R80. If I had a bit more mental space at the moment I could probably deal with finding out what dealing with the paperwork looks like. I'm pretty sure it would pass the emissions test but I'm not sure I want that hassle at the moment.

From recent experience to pass the ULEZ, you take the bike to the test place and they test. If it passes you have the proof and then send paperwork over to TFL. If it fails the bike is booked it for a rejet/calibration once done the bike passes.

California has some strict emissions laws, even for lawnmowers. There was a time where car exhausts emission were 'cleaner' than the air drawn in to the engine.

No emissions test for Motorbikes here, only cars and trucks. The difficult bit is you can’t register anything in CA that was not CA or 50 state street legal, so two strokes are out, except for off road only. There are still bikes grandfathered in before 03 and a few still dubiously sneak through the DMV.

No stress. It’s now stored at a secure lockup, and I’m trying to strongarm the guy to buy it from me at mate’s rates and pay monthly. Otherwise it will get run every few weeks/every month to keep carbs clean and free, then kept for winter duties.

This is easy, just ride fast and don’t stop.
In other news, it’s home, and scary to break urban speed limits at idle in 2nd.
