  • Thanks, really useful information. It didn't sound that bad to me but the tech pulled some really funny faces!
I'll video it and post it for info and then I'll drain the oil and pop the filter off and see what's inside

  • Yep - engine swap - take your time over choosing a replacement, get help and careful with those heavy lumps.

  • Good luck - don't run it long. I use the wife's can opener on the filters to cut them open. Works a treat.

  • So…so satisfying

  • Not cut open the filter yet but video of bike running and clutch being engaged/ disengaged.
Also oil being drained - it wasn’t this colour when I checked the levels just after buying it. Not sure if Copart did an oil change!

  • That’s definitely head gasket - doesn’t sound too bad otherwise. Don’t run it any more.

  • Change of bike for a spin this morning. Warp speed Mr Sulu! 163hp vs 85 on the Duchess is an eye opener. And now the brakes work too! Happy days.

  • That looks properly tenderised.

  • Great colour scheme. Really purposeful. The way they've progressed with that model over the years is brilliant.

  • That's a decent hobby setup. You can never have enough space and tools in a workshop.

They totally dropped the ball on the mitre saw. Ended up in German customs for 2 months. I was cutting mitres by hand with my guillotine. Managed about 200 small ones one day!

  • What a weapon. On the one hand I like the tiny little rear light strips but on the other, the stock rear lights are rather iconic for me.
Makes sense on a track whip tho I guess

  • Medium rare, it’s gonna fall off the bone.

  • Just needs searing on the exhaust for a few seconds.

Hope it doesn't give you too much trouble.

  • Thanks.

Got ache in the left neck/shoulder and lower right torso, plus the leg tightness. I’m assuming either minor whiplash effect, or just strain from picking up the bike whilst under the influence of the adrenal medulla.

It was the hardest slam to date, can’t have been much under 30mph, that’s what I clocked seconds before going down.

Gonna go back out today now that I’ve had 48 hours to bruise. Going steady and get past the ‘first ride since’ thing asap.

  • I used to take Arnica to help recovery and lessen bruising. 48 hours might be a bit late for that to have any effect. My worst accident outcome was around 30mph. It's fast enough to hurt.

  • BENSOOOOOON!

  • Arnica? Never heard of it but will look it up for next time! The first 6-8 hours (once home) I wore a sports compression sleeve. Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and elevated leg overnight.

Certainly is fast enough to hurt. I was lucky, and I am satisfied to be walking and talking with muscle aches and bruising.

@Chak yesss! Also the Summertime tape, which I got before the cubist Benson. Was gonna get a little Pops and some other bits some time, but I like the less-obvious choices.

  • Haha benson, class

  • Ouch dude! Few more days and that will be all the colours.

  • Went for a couple hour ride with the KTM990 friend. Lots of stops and went super easy on a loose gravel track then hit a nice rooted/rutted climb. After that we hit the sketchy lane which floods badly with deep muddy ruts. It was a really great ride to get some confidence back after the last ride.

Decided to wear the big Acerbis knee guards instead of the little soft armour I normally wear.

No prizes for guessing where they were strapped on.

  • Fair play for getting back on the horse, glad it hasn't put you off.

And @jung the gixxer looks great, very purposeful. Serious envy with that lovely exhaust, I'm watching ebay like a hawk for a yoshi rs3 so I can get a custom link pipe made up.

In other news, something big and red may be gracing the garage this week.

  • Frikking great choice.
Summertape is an interesting choice, and now the song is stuck in my head.

    Hench pops would be hilarious.

Also glad you’re out in the dirt again. Stories in scars and all that jazz.

  • Good work fella! Mud looks gloopy - we hardly ever get any but a few areas with clay soil are totally unrideable when they’re wet. Like ice. (But softer….)

Wasn’t that soft to land on! Ha!
