  • The RSV's idle has always been unsurprisingly lumpy, which the dyno confirmed, but after the recent racetrack nap it's got worse so decided to investigate. Pulling the nose off spotted the anti-return valve fitted the wrong way and a solenoid valve tube wasn't connected so put it back to stock. Too late to fire it up but fingers crossed this has improved things. Quite like the street fighter look.

  • I know a bloke who used to ride one daily from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. The early unrestricted version. I got to see it in Dubai one time before he sold it. Reckoned the sand on the road felt like water at 180!

  • @jambon still looks too clean to be a bike I’d own!

@Airhead I sat on one in the second-hand bike shop back in Feb. Felt massive. Bet they were a blast when new.

  • If you felt it was missing some BHP you could add a turbo :)

  • If money (and medical expenses) were no object, a turbo busa would be my coffee run.

  • Most frightened I’ve ever been- on the back of a mates ‘busa through the bends at the bottom of Box Hill. Seriously fast and useable bits of kit.

  • I know two busa owners and they're both bellends. One said it's the most comfortable and stable bike he's ever ridden though...

In other news, I thought my tinkering had caused some kind of sensor fault with 'LO2' flashing on the dash. Turns out it was actually L02 and I'd accidentally activated the lap timer!

  • My mate could be a bit wild on the busa (probably more so when he had blades) but other than that not too much of a bell end. We went to the Nurburgring, he was on the busa, I had a bonneville 800 with sportier pipes and another mate had a lancia delta integrale - great weekend. The guy with the busa went straight from there to tour Eastern Europe with his girlfriend on the back of the bike.

  • Took me a while to get used to the abs light on the Honda, used to stay on after starting until you reach a certain speed.

  • Especially if you get your coffee in Northern Italy.

  • Never said my coffee run would be the shortest most direct route...

(Even on the DR I’m taking the long way)

  • still looks too clean to be a bike I’d own!

Fair comment. I'm thinking my next bike will have to be of the knobbly tyre variety.

  • LFGSS TransEuroTrail tour

  • Or just throw it down the road a few more times and never clean it...

  • Ah man don’t!!

Yesterday the road wheelset went back on the DR. I’ve wimped out from dirt riding for a week or two while I wait and see how a shoulder injury recovers.

Feel like a right wuss. Finally got the dirt-capable bike, and failing to exploit every single opportunity.

All the same, it’s great fun to see heed I’m given when I lean the bike over. Tailgaters suddenly disappear.

  • Now we're talking

  • Only fired the RSV up on the stand but idle seems smoother and the low down flat spot has gone. Seems promising. Just a shame I'll have to wait months to properly test it.

  • Just keep dreaming of sunny skies and dry tarmac. Riding in winter is a bit poo.

Hit the deck doing about 30 today when some fucker decided they were in the wrong lane and had about 5m to change direction.
Knew what they did and gunned it off. This was in shepheards bush and not a single person batted an eyelid. People actually drove around me about 10 seconds later.
Very much dislike this city these days.

  • Ah fuck man, that's rough - hope you're ok!

  • Hope you're okay other than a foul mood. I've had that experience once, where you're on the floor and everyone is driving past. Leaves a bitter taste and worse it wasn't even your fault. How's the bike?

  • All groovy. Boot buckles and trousers scuffed. Jacket elbow and glove scuffed too. Testament to good gear, I didn’t feel a thing!
Bike however is another thing. Lots of gouges to usual spots. No leaks though! Engine bars and bark busters will be fitted ASAP.
Tempted to get trillion lumen retina searing proton powered daylights to boot. Not a fan, but not sure how else I can be ‘seen’.

@jambon You’re bang on, it’s the the complete lack of empathy that grates some. Pushes you towards the angry/fuck everyone position, which I’m not a fan of.

  • Sorry to hear that man. Sadly even if they hang around and argue the toss to the extent the police are called next to nothing gets done. Have a long bath and get to bed early, you might feel it in the morning.

  • Arghh shit - sorry to hear that mate. Glad you’re OK though!

  • Glad to hear you're alright. Even when you're OK it's still a shake. Some lights will help, as does road positioning/moving to make you more noticeable. But ultimately if someone is being careless and not looking...
