My s1000r is 12kg (wet) heavier than my CBR600 but double peak torque and apparently 75% of it is available at 3000rpm, which explains all those lovely lazy overtakes I’ve been able to do. No screaming along behind someone waiting for the perfect moment, just twist and go!

Not that I'm a thou evangelist, they're just more practical than the other 4 cylinder sportsbike categories.
That is a very good point. I flit between thinking a S1000RR would be nice but also thinking I'd miss the character and low down grunt of a twin.

I love twins, but the only one I've ridden with more midrange than my K5 was a Duke 1198....that, frankly, had TOO much midrange. A large amount of power that came in like a bat and disappeared soon after. Fun but a handful. I hear the 1299s are the same but with monster top end too! The character definitely is a thing - twins seem to have more feel about them, fours more turbine like thrust. I'd like one of each please.
My ZX10R (2004) was gutless like a 600 under about 8.5k, then took off. Didn't like that engine at all.
I'd love to try some of the new superbikes and see what they're like - I've not really ridden anything post 09 or so in anger.

Not quite sure how Valentino Rossi came away unscathed from this, was terrifying. Both the other riders walked away thankfully.

Proper excited by the R660, honestly think thy're a dying breed and this might be the last of the snappy twins.
Don't get me wrong, big fan of the big thumping KTM doubles, but they're a bit unruly for day to day basis unless you have a couple of CPU's toning down everything mid corner. Which they do, but you're always on bleeding edge intensity.Last thing I rode was an S1000rr and it was a royal fucking hoot, but I wouldn't buy it simply because I'd either wouldn't have a license or I'd be dead by now on these roads.
I see it this way now, if I can't safely scrub my tyres at 80% of my capability (which ain't much) and be somewhat legal, then there's no point of owning it in the UK.You ain't UK no longer you dirty traitor so It doesn't apply to you.
I'd still say Daytona 675R. That's mine one day for sure! -

Could do with fatter tyres to scrub, nothing much left on the edge of the 125’s.

Yeah everyone has forgotten the joy of thrashing a fast, light little bike. Principally because no one has made any For ages...kind of hope the Ape starts a trend in that regard!

They are insanely pretty. So much better in the flesh too, jewel like. Would have, too poor.
Please do so we can all live vicariously. -

The issue is the rarity - I can only see two for sale in the UK at the moment - so prices aren't going to drop. I will have got rid of my car by the end of the year, so could put that money and running costs into a bike, but do have three kids to get through university.
That said, I haven't seen a bike that excites me like this for a while. We'll see...

Nope, I haven't got anything at the moment since writing off my 748. I've got a 749 and V4R in the garage, but sadly not mine

You can buy them new for US17k here. Ape and MV have struggled a bit in the US with sufficient dealer networks.
Moto Italia up the road from me in La Canada had one. It was moto porn - they ship with boxes of farkles too if I recall.
Pack the weans off to the local poly and lift one.

Wow, that is going to be stunning! Keep us updated.
Had a go on a ~10 year old bonneville, slow, heavy and heavy, had the turning radius of a track bike. Really no use for it here, but if you lived somewhere warmer and with more relaxed traffic where you don't have to use faster roads, yes, so nice to just blat along that low to the ground (quite like older style bikes for this very low and upright position).
I dunno about these days but K5 era, the thous were as light or lighter than the 750s. I think they bloated a bit with the cats and twin exhausts of K7 on. For my money, there's no perceptible difference in weight between 600/1000s really. I'd always get the thousand as they're so much more versatile.
Not that I'm a thou evangelist, they're just more practical than the other 4 cylinder sportsbike categories.
Reckon my next sportsbike might be either a Daytona 675R or even one of the new Aprilia twins (whenever they come out.....)
I looooove these Reggiani rep colours. Probably means I'm old and have questionable taste but....
