Great source, cheers for that. Struggling to get the motivation to go out for an early spin. Spain has kinds spoiled me and it's tough finding some breathing room here.

Thanks for the link, will get it ordered.
In the meantime, I tensioned the throttle cable which had about 1/8th of throttle turn of slack.
Didn't take photos of before but they can be seen on this forum:

Fitted a DNA air filter & "race" cover today.
Not sure it will work well in the wet as the tank/saddle junction is right above the opening, meaning that water could potentially drip into it.
Time will tell!
The bike sounds a bit more meaty, I can't comment on performance yet.
The Yamaha original air filter is also an oiled one and the original filter cover snorkel is made of soft rubber. I could have technically just removed that snorkel to get more air in, but the DNA hole is about twice the size so will definitely bring more air in.

Isn’t rubber snorkel there to prevent water from drippingg in?
-
• #13506
In some ways maybe, but in other bikes, the snorkel faces downwards towards the front wheel, so not sure if that's it's main purpose. I still wouldn't remove it though.
Someone might chip in, but wouldn't the design act as some soft of ramjet as opposed to sucking everything in?
There's always a debate about it, but with EFI bikes, I doubt removing it would make any difference apart from a raspier intake noise. -

Also, question to all. 520 Renthal chain and sprocket sets. Worth it or better for the track only?
Also, what ratios do people use? It'll be on a torque-y twin. -

Took the bike for a spin a there is a noticeable difference to grunt / acceleration. So thumbs up for that DNA air filter and cover.
I will look into a solution so the water does not run into it. Probably cut milk bottle & tape type.
Also fitted a raft of parts I had purchased and not yet bothered unpacking.
Including:
Genuine bar ends (bike didn't come with them)
Side covers from S2 Concept - they look good and finish the bike.
Gauge relocation bracket from S2 Concept - puts the gauges higher & forward so less looking down.
Rear Puig pegs in black
Wind reflector from Hurricane - like the Yamaha one but in black
Passenger grab rail from Hurricane - nice fit and although ugly, less ugly than other brands.

I've got a 520 conversion on my rat GSXR. It was on there when I got it, has been horribly neglected over the last 12k or so and is only just now feeling fucked. Can't hurt.
I'd go 1 down over stock on the front, usually wakes things up a treat.

It does! So I called Carole Nash and after all this time panicking about insurance costs (Ireland is notoriously expensive for vehicle insurance, it's completely normal for a youngster to pay €2,500 a year to insure a Toyota Yaris etc.) it turns out I can insure this for €354 third party/ fire and theft...
Still need to do my IBT training and test so I'm not taking delivery for a few weeks but cannot wait!

Awesome. Sometimes feel a bit fed up of my 750 being as its like riding a heat seeking missile everywhere. Would quite like something small and simple to run around on.
Best of luck with the test! -
• #13515
Yeah I'm hoping it'll be a bit of fun around town and up the mountains! Should be able to give it a good squeeze compared to a bigger bike!
Still have to sort all of my kit too :(
Any recommendations for retro full face helmets? Bell Bulitt/ Eliminator. AGV X3000. Nexx XG100R. Premier Trophy. Blauer 80s.

I rode London to Snowdonia on Friday. Noticed as I was arriving that there was a very noticeable knocking sound from the bottom of the bike when in gear and accelerating. No noise when decelerating or continuous speed. Chain was fairly loose so put it down to that.
Called in at my parents and borrowed a torque wrench from my Dad and tensioned the chain.
Its mostly gone away but there is still a slight knocking that I can hear in 1st gear when accelerating hard. After that the engine noise is too loud to notice it.Ideas?
Its not chain slap now, its correctly tensioned. Feels and sounds as if its coming from the bottom of the bike and I can slightly feel the knocking through the foot pegs

Any recommendations for retro full face helmets?
Premier? All the best with the test etc
-
• #13519
Have you any experience with the Premier ones? They almost seem too cheap y'know?
-
• #13520
No experience, just seen them in trendy media/shops sorry. Thought the retro styling might be of interest. Pos worth checking up on their sharp rating?
-
• #13521
Think I'll have to start looking into the ratings, there's a sea of trendy helmets out there at the moment!

Shoei EX-Zero is my pick of them. Bell did the bullitt in paint colours to match my bike but I couldn't get past the ugly as sin looks. The ex-zero has a built in visor or takes goggles but you'll be spending the best part of £500 by the time you've got the peak, dark visor, fanciest paint job. I don't mind spending that sort of money for 10 years use.

I have just purchased a Bell Bullit - it is the most uncomfortable helmet I have ever worn.
70's style, fit and look. Looks cool on Insta, make you look odd in real life.
Would not recommend and will resell on eBay!

How bigs your head and how much £?

Did you read my previous post about it being the worst helmet known to man??
Size Large 58/59cm with a yellow bubble visor.
Shame it is so ill fitting, I also purchased some matching Death Spray Custom (DSC) goggles.
I would have been a fat, non sponsored version of Rudy Melo...
