Falco avantour, had a pair for about 18momfhs now. The leather gets a quick clean and oiled every month, comfy enough for walk-in g about, stiff enough on the bike and have tested out the ankle protection few times on rocks, trees and getting myself stuck under the bike when I run out of talent, ankles not broke yet!
Waterproof Ness, yeah water gets in eventually, but was working out 6 - 10 a hours a day in sunny sunny glasgow, nothing keeps you dry in that.

Rode my XR650 to work today in Chippewa workboots and a denim shirt. Adventure hipster, moi?

What was the beard growth?

Haha, mine has always been on the doggedly patchy side. I've entirely missed out on the hirsute zeitgeist.

Just got a new exhaust cerakoted matt black.
That's high temperature ceramic coating, which is supposed to help you gain a couple of bhp by limiting heat dissipation. Apparently. Just doing it for the looks, wanted something durable.
Looks great, will report on durability once it is fitted.
Cost was £105 + £10 shipping from my end then a whooping £25 return shipping.
Also found some matt black exhaust clamps on eBay so will get the full matt black look I was after. #CSB

Worth that cost if only to reduce your ball temp from fast boil to mid simmer.

The new bike is a 2018 XSR700 which is based around the MT07 engine.
Online forums say the existing radiator is well over-engineered to suit much warmer countries so it should not heat up to unreasonable levels.
And also I use my motorbike even less than my bicyle.

based around
Really like these and took one for a long test ride. But aren't they actually an MT07 with different styling and slightly higher suspension?
-
• #13310
Same engine and chassis, yes.
I wouldn't even be able to tell you how it rides since I've not ridden it...
I started writing the sales ad for my 2004 600 Bandit so once that goes, I'll transfer the insurance and actually try it!

Insurance renewal looks as if it will be about 50% of last years, bonus! I guess a lot of people bin it in the first year of riding...
-
• #13312
Not looking forward to mine. 1 non fault claim but I've read that they increase your premium considerably anyway. Which is ridiculous as I'm no more likely to crash and claim again since it wasn't my fault
-
• #13313
Yeah that’s shitty, presumably they’re trying to claw some money back and justifying it with stats after the fact.
-
• #13314
I've long given up trying to understand how premiums work and the logic behind certain increases.
Bike booked in for replacing the front rocker cover gasket then dyno time!
-

Mine's leaking some exhaust from the front gaskets now. Can't say I'd recommend Burwins based on the work they've done for me. Gave me the bike back with what looks like the headers not bolted on properly and also they left the horn off, hanging by the wire. Asked for them to change the front brake pads which they just didn't bother doing.
-
• #13316
Have you spoken to them?
Usually been really good to me.

Friends have had exhausts coated with this stuff, by many different people. Some of the exhausts have been quite old and rusty too, both 4 and 2 stroke. As with many things, the prep of the metal work is the issue to get good adhesion or the coating cracks and flakes.
-
• #13318
There is an odd logic. Mine goes down if I get quotes 3 weeks or more before, also contact different brokers too.
-
• #13319
Only use the bike at weekends so didn't notice for a week or two, now I figure its too late since its been a month. I'm not bothered, ultimately they removed the snapped studs which were stuck in the engine, I couldn't have done that myself.
I'm going to whip the exhaust off soon anyway to fit a slip on I got off ebay -

Anyone that fancies a street legal off roader or SM should check these out - they're based on the 2010/11 era Husqvarnas and built in the same factory in Varese. Much improved EFI and suspenders though....they are INSANELY good value.

hehe, those swm bikes really do it for me.....especially the superdual....new exhaust and tail tidy and that's a decent thumper!
...my thumper got new tires, heidenau k60scouts, very neutral and really good on road and still decent for mild offroading.
-

Nice! My XR has given me a hitherto unexpected affection for big doffers. I'd have one of those SWM motards in a hot minute.
-

K60s ftw. Been impressed with them. Don't get offroad much at all, but great when I get there, especially small Gravel /dusty stuff.
Harpic power 10, it's toilet bleach with something moderately acidic in it, Internet says it's very effective at making stainless exhausts look less gruby without sending £15 on a bottle on optiglanz?
Might try it out tomorrow on my exhaust, don't think I've ever cleaned it :/ -

Not a bad day for it I suppose.

We do all the stylmartin TCX etc casual boots at my work - I’ve always found the stylmartins look nicer on the shelf than on your foot. The ankle protection is quite prominent, make it look like I’ve already broken a bone or two and I’m just trying to hold it together. Same applies to the Furygan Caprino/Melbourne. Could just be my feet though.
The TCX boots don’t seem to do this for me though, and there are some boots coming from John Doe in a month or so that I think will be well worth a look.
