For ear plugs get these.
And google how to put them in properly. -

Got loads of those in work so I’ll pinch a couple pairs to start with before maybe looking for something less disposable

I re-use them for a long time to no issue. Honestly not found anything better. They're great.

Are there anything by way of headphones for music, directions, calls etc that also work as plugs to block outside noise?
-
• #11632
I have some mpow judge that are ok at blocking noise. But not really, unless you spend £150 on custom moulder plugs with headphone tips in. Plus headphones are annoying to get helmet on and off with.
Best thing to do is keep the earplugs and get a sena headset.

Best thing I ever got for noise isolation whilst being able to listen to music and gps navigation.
They are so effective you can have music on quite low, have the gps interrupt the music and ride along in peace. But you cannot hear a damn thing otherwise, so petrol stations, heated discussions with drivers, listening to a lecture from a traffic cop, you have to take your helmet off and pull the plugs out. -

they look expensive?
I went budget and use these - Bluetooth Headphones, TaoTronics Wireless Headphones, Bluetooth 4.1 Magnetic Sweatproof Sports Earphones with CVC 6.0 Noise Isolating and 9 hours Playtime from Amazon. Last ages, sound is good and cheap.
Phone I have on a mount on the front but have the turn by turn directions off

£250, I should have posted the link to the actual product
Worth it in my opinion, they have lasted ages and are so quiet. -

I find earphones to be a massive ballache to use. Also after a couple of hours all the pressure builds up around my head and before I know it, my concentration is down.
Not a fan. I'd rather block most noise now. -

Think spec savers do a free ear test and canal inspection? They also sell various ear plug and devices.
My misses works at one git me some excellent plugs. Heat moldable, think we're around £30 a pair in a little box (lives in ass of bike). And make a huge difference, stay put and not painful. -

Was it @sacredhart who was interested in the ninja 400?

Tell them to go fuck themselves #bantsinnit

Nothing wrong with the 400. Jap market have had the 400 for ages and they are a laugh.

Good advice. Did you see the article in one of the mags about helmet wind noise?
Custom ear plugs, check out your local NHS audiology department for recommendations. What I would go further to say, with disposable ear plugs keep them clean, don't stuff them in a pocket to gain fluff. When rolling them to put them in your ears, clean hands. Store the plugs in a clean container and if reusing plugs using the same plug in each ear. This way you dont force dirt in to your ear canal. When using ear plugs you will be forcing the ear wax up the ear canal so look at rinsing your ears out every so often as ear infections are horrible.
EDIT- This advice was given to me by an ear nose and throat specialist...but he rode a harley ;)

Got my ear moulds taken this morning at Ultimate Ear in Orpington. They should have my plugs ready in 2 weeks.

I have ACS earplugs from when I was a mix engineer, they're brilliant. Not actually tried them on the bike, funnily enough

Like the colours. Can you get a tail tidy to get rid of the weird number plate mount? I think they're dead cool otherwise.
-
• #11648
That is with a tail tidy mount...
The oem one is massive. This one is pretty small and it means the rear lights etc are nice and tidy. I like it.
Went out to Ashdown Forest and back this morning. Nice little ride...
