I have done the accidentally buying stuff on ebay.
I see something I like, I value it at say £50 so I bid £50.
Then I think, I really want that.
So I bid £60 or £70.
Then I remember I valued it at £50 or realise I'm not mad keen on it so I pray that I get outbid. -

Took my nine year old out for his first proper ride on the back yesterday (thanks for the helmet loan, G). Beaming smile! Best pillion too, light and small, tucked in behind me and chatted the whole time even though I said I couldn't hear him.
Great stuff Mark! Bet he loved it.
Being introduced to bikes for the first time is a tricky thing. You get those that take it easy and just give their pillion a small taste of what it's like, which normally works wonders. Then you get complete tools that are trying to show off to a new girlfriend or something and end up scaring the crap out of their pillion and putting them off something wonderful for life.

If someone's never been on the back of a bike before, surely you don't need to work hard to terrify them?
IF I pass my test, and IF I haven't been put off myself and do end up getting a bike, I'll be trying to ease the other half into it - would be lovely to do day trips out.

in my experiences, all women love bikes... you don't have to drive like a dick to impress them either. I ride very safe these days and our lass loved the trip to the lakes the other week, apart from coming back in the dark and rain!

I picked up the accidental win bike this morning it was pissing down most of the way up I was thinking I might have to turn around once i got there and come pick it up another time. It cleared up and it was prefect weather (apart from the wind ) all the way back.
However got around a corner on a country lane about 40mins into the ride back to hit a giant unsign posted flood. I got absolutley drenched, boots full of water etc. -

Why the ride like a dick, I have done it in the past with a pillion when I couldn't think straight, plan ahead just feeling cloudy and angry. That was a bad idea. But luckily I did stop her as she'd been n the back before.

Sorry multi tasking and didn't mean to post that, was going to post later
Why the ride like a dick (terrify a pillion) when its the first time on the back of a bike? Scary thing is I have done it in the past. The thing I site as the reason for that happening was I couldn't think straight, plan ahead or plan my riding. My brain was just feeling cloudy and angry. That was a bad idea to take a pillion, then along with suspension that needed servicing so the bike suspension was bottoming out. But luckily I didn't stop/scare the pillion from getting on a bike again as this wasn't the first time that shed been on a bike.
More sense now? Mind is a bit cloudy at the mo.

I just bought a new leather jacket for £60 on Ebay. George White outlet has a load of cheap Frank Thomas and Lewis Gear stuff. Sure the quality isn't supposed to be all that but I've had the same Frank Thomas jacket for 6 years and it's still serviceable. The zip handles have broken with metal fatigue but that's all. I'm just bored with the look of it. I went for something with cleaner lines.

Any recommended MOT places in east london?

Riverside Motorcycles in Hackney Wick, or Essential Rubber, along the A12.
-
• #1172
+1 for essential rubber. They are top lads.
-
• #1173
Essential are shite, not just once on several bikes coming up with interesting fails.
Not used riverside but I use a firm over in wandsworth
-
• #1174
Are either of them likely to be friendly to an older errmmm louder bike?
-
• #1175
Never had anything but excellent service from Essential. Never failed one of my bikes either.
:-)
still, if you paid less than you expected then there will be more to get back once you have passed your test and sell it. so its all win.
