Crikey - must be the New Austerity movement. I've been planning to follow up my wooden guard with a cap. Prefer the threadbanger shape though, so will give that a crack.
How long did that take Stevo?

• #32
good couple of hours, but like i say, i'm shit with a sewing machine
-

Ta. Not sure if the wife will even let me near hers - it's a bit fancy.

doubt it. vintage pattern books are filled with design from some of the most lavish names in couture and this has not put them out of business. knowing how to make something will not stop you buying one off the shelf or made to measure. i am sure philip treacy still buys hats for himself. keep doing what your doing.
sorry if i missed something.
too true!
was only messing really, but cheers, i do love sewing, good to sew others getting down :) -

so i didnt' believe it when Coppi told me we have a sewing thread but DAMN. I've been quietly nerding out on vintage machines for 3 weeks and I know what I want. I just got outbid AGAIN on the machine I want. So gutted.

Ive got my cap finished, plus a tidy little tool belt bum bag type thing - but obviously much much more awesome than a bumbag! I'll put pics up tomorrow

I'm in. Now I've seen a pattern I want to get straight to the machine. Off to the charity shop for some material, me thinks. At least using standard material shouldn't break the sewing machine like making a bag does!
Coppi - Am I still good to get the coffee pot off you?

So I completed a prototype of a tweed style cashmere cycling cap with silk lining, might try one with ear flaps for the, well, a ride.

Disturbingly, my Mrs. has just purchased a 2nd hand sewing machine in fantastic nick.
In the last 2 days the lounge has sprouted a number of cushion covers, one of which I even like.
