-
• #153
Hello all,
Just a quick question i thought somebody on this thread might be able to answer..
I'm looking to get my hands on some of the champion stripe material to run down the middle of a hat, i wondered if anybody knows where i could acquire some that doesnt involve me destroying an existing hat? -

Are there any handy sewing geniuses out there that can fix some elastic stirrups to the legs of by bib tights? I can pay in cash, beer or eternal gratitude.
-
• #155
thats a simple job to do by hand. less than ten minutes.
oi you, yes you. i know how your mind works!
-

Why whatever do you mean Gerald..? Surely you don't think this is an elaborate ruse to meet lfgss members with a sewing fetish? I'm afraid my feeble mind is incapapable of such a cunning plan.
Sadly my sewing skills only extend to fixing a button every now and then and my sausage fingers would only fuck this up. I would prefer if it didn't look like it was done by a one armed sloth on crack so am hoping there is someone out there with superior skills and a machine that could do a more professional job.

Whereabouts in the SE Wicksie? Friday might be best as it will give me a chance to buy some elastic.
Thanks for the offer TP but I'm SW so a trip SE sounds much better to me!

hello sewers of the forum,
if I had a jersey that had a duff zip on it how easy would it be to replace the entire zip thingy? it's a full length one if that helps.
if it's easy is there anyone on here with the skills/willing to tackle such a task on my behalf in exchange for a reasonable sum of money?

I wandered into one of the little tailors in FItzrovia a few years ago with a similar problem. Fixed for a tenner while I waited (I think they were just bored).

good tip, next time I'm headed up that way I'll pop my head into one and see if I have any luck.

Zips can be quite tricky to replace - they're not too bad to put in when you're starting from scratch, but replacing is a different story ... I would recommend a tailor too.

yeah, having had a look last night at the stitching it does look pretty complicated, it's certainly beyond my year 7/8 home-economics skills (although I could bake a mean cake back in the day).
will pursue the tailor route as suggested.

I can do it if needed, my rates are normally alcohol based... as long as you can drop it off and pick it up NE london way.

So, tweed run looms, I need to get to the sweat shop again.
Need to make a waist coat,
Cap (any idea how you measure the liner?)
Make my trousers in to plus fours.
Thinking of making some spats for my sidi's too.
Good times. -

Wicksie, you can buy them here: http://shop.little-package.com/shop/category/goodies. Caroline has so far made 4 for me and 1 for my daughter using cloths I provided. They are all fab, so her patterns definitely do work.
