I got the Protection, as I wanted extra sidewall support. They do need a little extra work first though.
I followed the 'painting the inside of the tyre' directions in this video and they've been fine ( also used the Revo sealant ).

Schwalbe Rapid Robs. I think that the free 2oz sealant shots that came with the rims was just not enough for the volume and porosity if the tyres. They held well initially after distributing the sealant but were flat the next morning.
I didn't quite get them to 4 bar and I couldn't hear any sealant splashing around after I inflated them so I think that was the issue.
So more pressure, more sealant, more swearing.

Might end up going back to Maxxis when these wear out. I only stopped as I had a dodgy one that exploded off the rim* and freaked me out a bit.
*thankfully with no sealant in it..

Usually just riding the tire for a good five miles or so sorts everything out. Seems to be the only thing that can get the sealant everywhere.

Exploding tyre would also work.

Ride it?

Five miles?! We're not all ultra-endurance racers, like gabes!
-

Well, you don't have to stop after five miles ya know

Transfered all the parts from my Genesis to this. Happy with how it turned out. Need to tweak the position a bit but will work that out. Off to tpeaks this weekend with it and am excited!

Rode it all weekend in the peaks. Loved it.
Still a bit harsh on the front.
Should I go carbon or add some boucnce? What are people recommending?

I've always found steel to be much more forgiving than carbon forks. Bigger tyre at lower pressure?
I normally always ride conti X-King in the 'pure grip' compound, which seal up no problem, but this time I bought the 'protection' version, as they were reduced to the same price, and they keep deflating, with no signs of leakage....and they are not as fast. I know I'm just going by 'feel', but they're not.
Pure grip are the ones to get....
