My bukkake party was in the saw room at work. Basically a part of the lab separated by a glass wall, to stop the dust from sawing polystyrene foam samples from spreading. The effect on the glass wall was
eroticmessy.Still only have one tubeless tyre. But its the front (2.55" weirwolf), and I keep meaning to put something like a Saguaro on the back anyway.

Not interested in the politics of 'Fatbikes', but enjoyed this video and was interesting to see how these bikes handled but I'm not about to buy one! Can't imagine that saltwater is kind on his bike thought!

Anyone got a 9 speed shorty mech they want rid of?
-
• #2060
I have a spare 9 spd rear Deore mech but it's long cage. Short cage a necessity?
In other news: FUCK! My rear tire is no longer holding air for more than a couple hours. Racing Ralph running tubeless on Stan's rims. Should I just top up the sealant and hope it re-seals?
-
• #2061
Yup. Short necessary. So sora, I guess. I have a deore and XT (and probably some other stuff)..
-
• #2062
ben, if there is no obvious tear i think all that is required is more sealant
want to come over at some point for a wheel retrue, more goo and steak session?
you can also grab your jacket
-
• #2063
No obvious tear/hole, no. We've been away for 4 weeks so it's just been sitting for that time and now won't hold air.
Steak and goo session sounds like an awesome idea.

does the reach feel a little too far? if not, it fit you nicely.
-
• #2066
stupid bike shop takes ages to order my karate monkey from the distributor ... and don't even have a clue why it takes so long.
I'm pissed! -
• #2067
I wouldn't exactly say 'fits nicely' Ed...you ideally want more standover height for a MTB.
Depends on what kind of riding you do. But I would have thought the reach would also be too long based on the saddle height.
-
• #2068
I was running it with 35 cross tyres now with them 1.9s on I feel a little further from the ground, reach is fine though Ed,

Depends on what kind of riding you do.
This^
Its pretty tricky to set-up midge bars on a MTB. The ETT is designed to give the correct reach with say a 80-100mm stem and flat bars/risers. So when you add the bar reach (65mm or so?). Youre not left with much. If the overall reach suits your riding then alls well. Just be careful you dont split your 'difference'.

I'm going to need to decide this one myself. But on a 13kg Fatbike, often with loaded panniers/frames bag etc, ridden in winter conditions, at slowish speeds. Using a 160mm rear d, and a 183mm front. Would people go with the Hope X2 or M4 brakes?
The X2s probably give adequate stopping power and modulation. But with weight not being an issue, and the price being so similar. The M4s are very tempting.

Brother uses M4's and loves them.

I find Hope stuff well priced. If you take an equally well performing brakeset, and then bling to the level of the Hopes. You'll end up spending more. The new M4s have cool holes in the levers too.
-
• #2073
I have one of those levers on my trials bike. It's a lot nicer than the older style lever as you can actually dial in the bite point rather than just the distance of the lever from the bar.
As to X2 or M4s, they both appear to come with that lever now so you're on your own.

thank you. I realize my question wasn't very specific, but that reflects my confused approach to my project. more about that later...
I need something cheap. and I think I'll compromise on the colour.
That was the 'less according to plan' bit. I was using a workshop compressor, without the valve core in the way, and more air flowed than expected... the bead popped off at what must have been about 100 psi.
Both ends done, but I haven't got the right tyres. Having picked up one of DJ's wheels and wondered why gravity wasn't working, I want the lightness of a tubeless, but also a more road-friendly tread than knobblies give.
Marathon XRs weigh tons and don't puncture anyway, but it's all in the name of 'learning'.
