  • The short top tubes found on track bikes, is not for an upright position. But is more a result of the steep seat tube, which is designed to lean you forward into an uber agressive position, on deep-drop track bars.

    ...or its for better visability in traffic, together with risers. I forget which came first ;)

    I don't agree that track frames have a shorter top tube. Full-on sprinters might pick a frame on the small size and go for drop more than reach, but they usually still end up with massive fucking stems to get a decent amount of stretch.

    twas horribly generalised too.

    I was just trying to explain that those track frames that have shorter top tubes do not have this to achieve an upright position. My point was that the bigger the saddle-to-bar drop you go for, the less reach you need.

    Although in my size (another massive generalisation)
    track frames = 51 ST/51 TT
    road frames = 51 ST/53 TT

    Yeah,
    just been looking at the various Condors,the pista has the same (relaxed?) geo as the tempo*. Not very pista :S

    The pista classico has more of what may be described as a road race geometry. Looks good too.

    Also remembered seeing a review for what may fit within the parameters of not track geometry, not sportive/relaxed geometry.

    *still prefer theTempo myself. With the new Sturmey Archer 3 speed fixed hub, full mudguards, and a little rack for the cucumber sarnies. It'd be lonely for day trips.

    The clever bit is for me, is the fact that swapping drop-outs doesnt just change it from vertical drop-out to track end. It changes the spacing from a modern road standard of 135mm to a track standard of 120mm. This will give you a far wider choice of hubs.
