  • Odd to be posting on ACF--I thought that died a long time ago.

  • Wednesday 12th - Either RotFL route or London to Brighton. Probably leaving Islington about 8

  • Anyone up for a little ride early tomorrow? Thinking 8am start, as I have to be back in Old st for 11. Thoughts?

  • I'm travelling to Matlock this Saturday (October 22nd, 0637 from St Pancras), in order to cycle around the peaks before returning home in the evening (1935 from Matlock).

I've yet to pick the route, but it could well be http://www.bikemap.net/route/940469, which I've ridden before.

For £48 you'll get your train tickets (I've just bought mine, cycle reservations to follow this evening), a brilliant ride through beautiful scenery, and lengthy doses of my effervescent personality.

Lights will be needed for at least the ride out to and back from StP, and a geared bike will make for the most enjoyable experience.

Drop me a note if you're inclined to tuck in a late summer-stylee ride, before any more light is lopped from the day.

  • I was nearly killed by a falling rock in Matlock once. I was petrified.

Seriously though I would actually be well up for that, if we didn't have a friend from Berlin visiting on Saturday. Lovely bit of the world.

  • Looks fantastic - I will be up there that weekend, but without bike (lucky escape as 116 miles of hills would take me well beyond daylight hours), at a family do. If you detour south via Brassington, you might be in with a chance of a cup of tea.

  • It's going to be top. The weather looks to be reasonable, fingers crossed for a bit of autumnal crispiness.

Just a thought, if anyone fancies exploring a Peak or two (or three), but doesn't warm to *too *long a ride, then no problem. I've not decided on the exact route yet, anyway. The basic idea is to set off from Matlock 9:30ish, returning for fish, chips, and the train home some nine hours later.

    It's a day on a bike.

  • Tomorrow to the coast at Birling Gap, East Sussex, between Newhaven and Eastbourne.Via Ashdown Forest.

anyone like to join Matthias, myself and Ludovica?

9.00am at the Ritzy, Brixton. train back from Brighton.

Some hills involved, but Matthias tells me I'll be ok fixed.

How was it? Tried a similar route earlier this year. Some lovely road down there.

  • I'm riding (sans gears) from Archway to Hatfield tomorrow morning at about 9am. It'll be near enough there and straight back and will take about 2.5 - 3 hours at a guess. Weather doesn't look to bad either.

    Anyone?

  • anyone got any shortish casual sunday rides planned for tomorrow? need to get some miles in, but the GF is joining and is new to the cycling game!

  • Anyone up for a (fairly) early doors ride tomorrow morning, starting south east ie. New Cross, Brockley, Peckham. Smash about 20 miles or so and finish off with a coffee?

  • i would normally be all over that - but its my birthday tomorrow, so the chances of me not getting my soft drinks spiked with whiskey are slim, next weekend though if its something you wanna do another time!

  • Very unlikely I know, but would anyone a) be near Winchester and b) interested in doing a quick 40 miles tomorrow?

  • I'm off today and at a loose end. Anyone fancy a ride around London?

  • Not a last minute ride but didn't want to start a new thread.

Over here in Essex we're planning a ride for 2nd Jan from Brentwood to Braintree, then back to Chelmsford. If anyone from London wants to join us there are trains to Shenfield from Liverpool St. that take about 25-30mins.

In the summer, city folks dublinkevin and ms.chris joined us on a ride to Frinton by doing this and enjoyed the fact that they could ride the countryside without having to trek through the London suburbs.

We're a mixed group of fixed and geared and happy to have new people to ride with!

How about one of your infamous races around Old Street roundabout?

  • Something from Hackney to anywhere, now?

  • The cold is making me lazy, I need to go for a decent ride tomorrow. Anyone riding out tomorrow?

  • yea i hear that, i have work til 6, evening rides always seem like an option, but when its cold and dark and after 9 hours at work, they never happen for me!

  • ^ Agreed. Just wanna cook up some good food and get warm after work. I have tomorrow off, though!

Anyone up for something Epping way?

  • rosie is doing an essex afterworker tomorrow evening

  • ^this. Though if you want to do somethIng during the day and wouldn't mind company I might be interested in tagging along.

  • The cold is making me lazy...

Got up at 12... Fail. Tom, I'm gonna head out around 2.30 to ride until dark. Will head to Richmond if no one tags along, but fancy heading out Epping way, really. I'll get lost if I go on my tod.

First day at the other shop tomorrow means that the Essex night ride is a no go. Gotta be fresh and alert!

  • So did I. All cycling kit in the washing machine now, no riding til dry :(
