@ideale90: i'll try and keep up on wednesday, but it'll be hard. maybe if i draft the whole way...
regarding the race,- i like it
- i like it more. do you know priory road, the last section before ore, i can get loads of speed really fast there, so that could be an option, that's where i got to 44km/h...
- i dont think i'd feel safe with so many people around me....
4.he's too fat/stupid. he'd just fall of it, and if i were to have i bike race, i think i'd definitely do a hill climb. i love hill climbs.
maybe, the stayer idea, i like it, with hastings winds, a stayer would be an awesome help, i wonder if anyone on here has a stayer...

remember atomfc
"little men chop down big trees"
whisper that to him on the start line (if you can hear over the thing that sounds like a bee an a bottle) -

@ atomcf - Did I see you on the seafront a few months back?
Did not realise there were many other riders down this way! Spotted another one on the seafront on tuesday.

Ah I remember this bike, it was you whose Mum wanted you to fit a back brake right? Did you win that battle? (see what I did there)
Glad you sorted out the saddle, but have you taken the stickers off those rims yet..?
Nice wheels though.

I half, won, she says if she ever finds me not wearing a helmet, she'll sell it, despite me owning it :). I do see what you did there :D
No, stickers are still there because I think they're a nice contrast to the rest of the bike. It looks better with them. -

I guess that's subjective - but taking them off will definitely reduce drag.

Yeah man I was wondering about this too!

im running 172.5mm cranks and 700x23c. i think i can go 72" on the flat, cos i can get up just about all the hills in hastings on 59"
Get yourself some 165 cranks, that will improve your cadence. I can hold 197rpm on 42x18 for about 2miles, it works out about 38mph on the flat.
Do lots of short fast efforts either on rollers or downhill sprints about 150-200m

sorry to bring bump this up again lads.

sorry 'bout the late reply, didn't realise people were actually interested.
well, about 4 weeks ago, i fractured my elbow, and so i havn't been out, and before that, the weather was all shit, with ice n shit everywhere. the muscle (triceps i think) has almost healed, but i don't want to come to the bottom of a hill and then find the muscle has died on me.
i've got a 13t (dura ace ftw!) which i'm gonna try out, that may save changing the cranks, but big thanks to Jokster
...however it also means i lose out on acceleration, which was one of my strong points...We've agreed to do the race in May, so i was planning on just training the hell out of my legs until then.
Who wants to see his bike? He's uploaded pictures of it on to facebook hahahaha... It's odd, it looks like a proper motorbike, but it can't be...

Reached 45km/h running 41x13 with a bit of wind behind me, after not cycling for about 3 months.

Bloody hell the longest I kept up 190rpm is about 10 seconds.

hopefully i'm not wrong/making a total fool of myself but according to those speed camera signs with a display giving you your speed, i've hit 35mph on the flat - it was on a nice track bike (said british eagle on headbadge, falcon decal on downtube, white to pink fade paint job, campagy hubs on mavic tub rims of some sort with shimano 600 cranks and lots of other nice bits) with a reasonable gear, about 72 inches i think.
basically, is this just wrong/largely inaccurate?
-

no, it's quite possible, what crank length were you running?
i'm running 172.5, which makes it a bit harder for me to spin, than if i was running shorter cranks -
• #100
oh, and a white to pink fade paint job won't make you go faster ;P
Definitely get someone with a car to get in on it and draft them.
