Evening Standard: Regent’s Canal Robbers

Saw this in the paper on the 10th.

I'll be staying away from the canal for a while... At least not during the night though.

i remember reading someone here got robbed for their bike there and the scoundrels had laid out obstacles to slow bikes down

Always best to avoid dark, unlit, remote areas with no means of escape. Parks, towpaths, back alleys...

Its obvioulsy too much hassle for those pigs I see hassling innocent cyclists to patrol the canals at night instead.

I guess busting these scummy little fuckers costs the filth money whereas busting us earns them cash.

Good for nothing

The canals will never stop being a problem (while being fine for most of the time) because of their nature (ambush alley, plenty of escape routes for miscreants), bat preservation order or not. But there have been muggings of various kinds, even away from the towpaths, in the N1 area for years. It's been quiet now for a while, but sometimes you get veritable crime sprees going. At night, if not during the daytime, use well-lit main streets. That advice applies to all of London, by the way.

Just look what happened to Roy Cropper and he's in Manchester!

I heard the canal is where all the bummers hang around anyway, so if you dont already have a transexual bird, your chances might improve. Or you'll get mugged. Whichever. I don't know.

Also throwing them in in their clothes would make their clothes foul, wet and smelly. Mind you, if you are up for the denuding, we could always throw their clothes in after them.

Imagine if that got in the newspaper. Would we get a praise? "Cyclist Community retaliates Canal Thug YOUTHS with a splash". I say we take a snap of them in the canal, and someone could stand in the photo wielding their bike above their head. Obviously the face will be blurred out, then sent to the paper.

We'd be like heroes.
