i remember reading someone here got robbed for their bike there and the scoundrels had laid out obstacles to slow bikes down

should organise a vigilante ride

Always best to avoid dark, unlit, remote areas with no means of escape. Parks, towpaths, back alleys...
Common sense really.
-
• #5
we should just send BlueQuinn down there to kick their sternums out.
-
• #6
It is common sense, but ffs people are more important than bats. Flood light the buggers to death ftw.

• #7
bats > people
:(

IN! List....

Its obvioulsy too much hassle for those pigs I see hassling innocent cyclists to patrol the canals at night instead.
I guess busting these scummy little fuckers costs the filth money whereas busting us earns them cash.
Good for nothing

The canals will never stop being a problem (while being fine for most of the time) because of their nature (ambush alley, plenty of escape routes for miscreants), bat preservation order or not. But there have been muggings of various kinds, even away from the towpaths, in the N1 area for years. It's been quiet now for a while, but sometimes you get veritable crime sprees going. At night, if not during the daytime, use well-lit main streets. That advice applies to all of London, by the way.

Just look what happened to Roy Cropper and he's in Manchester!
-
• #12
what if you ride on a canal at night you have end up married to a transexual? shit man
-
• #13
I heard the canal is where all the bummers hang around anyway, so if you dont already have a transexual bird, your chances might improve. Or you'll get mugged. Whichever. I don't know.

I'll say it again: these people have never had a good old fashioned Tol Chokiong with a chain whip and track pump whilst having someone scream at them, "is it yours? did you pay for it? Have you tidied up your room?!?"
-

Saw this in the paper on the 10th.
*"The knife-wielding thugs have struck at least 14 times in the past two months on or near a towpath which has limited lighting to ensure the bats are not disturbed. *

*I don't get it.... Bats are fucking blind!!!????

Ok
21 December - shortest day
The Vigilante Ride
BlueQuinn to lead off alone as a lure to the bad people, the rest of us follow some distance behind ready to pounce on the bad people once they attack BlueQuinn or drift off to the pub depending on the weather.

I'm down for that. As a bonus & a good lesson. Let's mug the coOonts too. Even their shoes.

It would be fun to throw them naked into the canal
-
• #23
Mike, that would require denuding them first. Not a pleasant task.
Also throwing them in in their clothes would make their clothes foul, wet and smelly. Mind you, if you are up for the denuding, we could always throw their clothes in after them.
-
• #24
Imagine if that got in the newspaper. Would we get a praise? "Cyclist Community retaliates Canal Thug YOUTHS with a splash". I say we take a snap of them in the canal, and someone could stand in the photo wielding their bike above their head. Obviously the face will be blurred out, then sent to the paper.
We'd be like heroes.
Is the law on our side if I say aye?

They will be wearing track suits- easy.
Grap, strip, throw in canal, job done.

I'll be staying away from the canal for a while... At least not during the night though.
Meh... :(

Gangs have attacked people taking short cuts or jogging along Regent's Canal in Islington. In eight weeks, they have stolen thousands of pounds of goods including bikes, iPods, mobile phones, jewellery, laptops, watches and cash."
