  • Snowing everywhere by the looks of things. Here's the picture from the first destination on our tour of former Yugoslavian Republics. CAN NOT WAIT...

  • Are those Line Chronics still up for grabs? If so I'd love them!

  • It was a bit interesting for @Cycliste riding back from the UCI Velodrome to the train station at Villeneuve on Saturday afternoon, following the Rhone. A time trial bike with 20c racing tyres isn't necessarily the best rig for riding on snow, unsurprisingly. All credit to her though - she was on the extensions for most of it.

  • yep - all yours. Drop me a PM and we can arrange a pickup.

  • It's looking like I may get an extra trip to the States in March, on top of the one to Chamonix in 3 weeks time :)

    Happy days.

  • I've got a couple of whole season passes for Saas-Fee that we won't be needing after next weekend. Anybody interested? We only paid 222CHF each on a promotion so would be looking for about 100CHF each or thereabouts...

Fucking cold today for Europe. -22 in the village when we woke up and -28 at the top! Feels like we are in Canada!

  • Knowing how windy it gets along that stretch too, even more impressive!

  • Is it transferrable?

  • No. Clearly states that it is not transferrable.

  • Does it have a picture? I know plenty of people who have been caught out with sharing season passes here in Verbier and had to pay a stupidly big fine and had their equipment confiscated until they pay it.

  • Doesn't need to have a picture on the pass - if they took a picture when it was bought, this will be on the system and will flash up when the pass is used

  • I got caught in Val Thorens on a borrowed 3 vallee season pass. Got a lift on a skidoo down the hill and it was all a bit of a pain.

  • Sounds fun

  • So I'm in two minds whether I'm going to keep the Corvus's, and pick up something a bit more generalist/fun. Or sell them and buy a pair of Navis.

Anyone got any recommendations for a fun ski, with ~100mm underfoot, will take a bit of everything, but is quite forgiving, doesn't need to be a charger, can handle short turns and bumps?

  • so, ive crumbled and bought a prima vera ticket so will not be going skiing this year unless i face the prospect of my little cousins uni ski trip...cheap...but bus all the way to the alps : (

  • My personal favourite is the Faction Candide 2.0. Having been to a ski test and tried out quite a few in the ~100mm bracket (ARV, Marksman, Backland...) it was and is (I own a pair) streets ahead. It's super poppy and playful, whilst still being solid enough and have good enough edge hold to really throw it into some GS turns.

  • Anyone on here interested in:

Dynafit Vulcan boots - size 27. About 50-60 days use - totally functional but the usual scuffs etc. Liners have been baked once. I'm thinking £150 but am open to offers

Dynastar Legend Pro XXL skis - 194cm. No bindings - drilled for small Marker Dukes. Good condition. Need to get rid so will accept a 6 pack of appropriately hipster pale ale. The ideal ski if you are insecure about your manhood and/or like skiing really fast all the time

  • Interesting. Read a review of the 3.0 on blister and it sounded quite stiff, and apparently too light/not tough enough for daily driving?

  • No picture was taken at any point although our names are printed on them.

I didn't realise this could be a big deal, have never had a pass checked before in any resort.

Obviously don't want anybody to get in trouble.

  • They might not check it in person, but the info will flash up on a screen and be checked on occasion. It might not be a big deal there, but considering how Saas-fee put themselves out there with this scheme, I doubt they'll be lenient on pass-sharing. However, I'm still tempted as 100CHF is a steal!

  • There would have to be manual checks. All they have is my name, DOB and address. They don't ask you to carry ID.

    I'm sure you're right though.

  • Turns out that they do take and compare photos here when you use your pass. Was speaking to somebody about it earlier.

In other news, I blew my knee up and was ambulanced off the mountain this morning. My cruciates are dust. 😖

  • Shit. Sorry to hear that.

  • That is rubbish. Not the first time it sounds like. Hoping they can patch them back together for you...
