  • Wengen to Zermatt is an awesome ski trek.

  • Went a bit too hard on day one, completely flat light all day, sore knees.

    Day 2, 5/10

  • Just as I've begun to make some progress with my back through physio my dodgy knee has flared up... Two week until I hit Tignes. I've just had a stinking cold too. FFS body, give me a break.

  • Day 3, very hungover 3 hours afternoon skiing 7/10

Day 4, back on it, 55km covered 9/10 bottom of the mountain getting home is solid ice/grass

  • I wouldn't bother. All about glencoe or nevis.

  • Fuck bottom of mountain at the end of the day in bad conditions. Cable cars are your friend. Be a real arse to hurt yourself on the shitty home run on lazy legs that isn't any fun at all.

  • Love a surfy blast through the slush man.

  • Slush yes.

Ice scraped moguls crawling in snowploughing beginners can gtfo.

  • That's why you they give you the poles.

  • I've never skied in Poland.

  • Considering a return trip to Prato Nevoso, Italy where I first skiied in 1980.
3hrs transfer from Nice airport, with hire car.

Doesn't have a great snow record, but here's to hoping.

  • At home now, great week in Les 2 Alpes, just got lucky that is snowed a literal fuck tone end of last week

  • Is there a Skiing equivalent of Wiggle?

  • Hooked

  • The best online UK shops are Freeze, Ski Bartlett, or Edge and Wax. If you look at Euro sites, you can often get stuff a bit cheaper, such as SnowInn or GlisShop.

  • There's a ski shop just behind Forest Hill Station. No idea what range of skis/boots they have but I got my snowboard boots from them and they were very helpful.

  • +2 for Freeze; a good shop.

  • Forest Hill

Good shout - didn't even know these guys existed. Need some bindings mounted this week.

  • Good point, I'd forgotten about them, I'll go and have a nose - nice to support a local business.

  • I'm off to La Plagne on Saturday.

I've been skiing for over 25 years now and I'm always excited about going.

This year, like every other year, I'll be with my Father, his friends and my brother. The old fella's going to be 72 this year, but he's still a eager as he was when he first started it in his early forties.

I can't wait. It's very difficult to explain to anyone who hasn't done it what it actually feels like.

Despite my knackered lower limbs, I'll do what I can to enjoy it for as long as I can.

  • I'm off to La Plagne on Saturday.

It's a nice little resort, you'll like it.

My recommendation is to get a ski pass covering the entire resort, so you'll enjoy some slope down to Villaroger.

Some of the mountain cafe/restaurants are not too bad (in term of price/food), I recall one near Villaroger that's exceptional.

  • Found it; le plein soleil (think that's the name).

  • Oh there's a run that was closed last years, but accessible if you're fairly decent, just expect to go down really slowly, as in slightly sloped through the wood.

It's the blue run heading toward Plagne Montalbert from the Adrets ski lift (right side of maps).

    Staying in Frabosa Soprana.

  • It's a nice little resort

But part of the 2nd biggest ski area in the world!
