  • A friend of mine who owns a hotel in Obergurgl is beside herself. Finances are tight for her and many of her staff. Sad times. These communities will be badly affected.

  • Yep the bars really aren’t looking forward to what’s to come

  • It looks like Skiworld are extending their cancellations beyond the Tyrol. The staff here (Lech) suspect that this is their last week.

  • Has anyone heard anything about the Portes du Soleil area of the French and Swiss Alps?

Totally self interested as I'm meant to be in Chatel next week. Be a bummer if the area closes.

  • Wife is in Chatel, will let you know if I hear anything

  • Plenty of snow in Les Arcs this week, the posted and bars are packed.
    Praying that local airports
    Chambery
    Grenoble
    Lyon
    Geneva
remain open until Sunday at least.
Not sure I want to be stranded here.

  • It’s now official that Lech will close on Sunday. A blow for our chalet crew whose parents were coming out next weekend.

    CORONA VIRUS

Governor Wallner had drastic measures decided, which essentially have the result that our winter season ends prematurely this weekend. Recommended actions and local measures will be discussed shortly at the community level and we will inform you as soon as possible about details. - The ski lifts in Vorarlberg will be closed due to the corona epidemic on Sunday, March 15th and accommodation facilities on Monday, March 16th based on the Epidemic Act. This ensures an orderly return trip for the guests. "The legal preparations have already been commissioned, says Governor Markus Wallner. Source: VOL.at

  • Just heard that Zermatt is closing as well... umm that leaves me in Switzerland without a ski trip and fucked getting home

  • Yeah, I just heard that all the Swiss resorts/lifts had just shut down. I'm flying tomorrow, to Geneva and then onto Chatel, but this might be a rather disappointing trip I fear.

  • It's only the swiss side of Portes Du Soleil that's closed. I'll be driving over to do some day skiing in France next week

  • We’re staying in Chatel, hopefully we can get over to Avioraz/Morzine/Les Gets from there

  • St Anton has been quarantined. Exit by police agreement only.

  • I heard Meribel and 3 valleys have no plans at the moment to close.
More worried about flying in and out of GVA.

Actually more worried about getting stuck there and the grief my partner would give me as I'm leaving her with the kids

  • I’ve just left Meribel, an ice hockey game and a few other small events were cancelled during the week, other than that it seems business as usual.

  • Not heard much, beyond consolidation of flights so people aren't doing ghost flights. I doubt the airports will 100% close.
Porte de Soile just announced 15% off of ski tickets. I'm guessing France ski resorts will be booming since they are the only ones open

  • Just arrived in Chatel, open currently

  • nice, get some skiing in for me! I am going sledding lol

  • Large pizza and large beer €15 at Friedrichshafen airport. Back to normality.

  • What could go wrong?

  • Just make sure you wear a lid.

    Helmet thread >>>>>>

  • If I put them on the wrong way round do I ski knock-kneed?

  • Is there a righty and lefty ski? Never seen that before

  • Yep
