Have you seen maxcrowe? he look like a really tall Swedish lamp post.

The forks I threw on have a massive steerer, and the frame is too small for me anyway. Lets me get the front end up nice and high to compensate for my 45,670k seatpost.
All in good fun! I feel like I can get away with it as I know its stupid. Bikes are well jokez innnit?

hahaha, it's not that bad. Also that frame looks like it would fit me, jackass. The Surly is actually tiny despite being a "62"

i've got a surly
well, the only surly bit is the frame, actually. it's got new wheels since this photo was taken. black halo aerorage ones.

Yeah in case it isn't obvious, the only Surly part about my bike is the frame... everything else is my own evil doing.

cycled over to a mates for NY eve jrinksh and me thinks me stem's a tad too short. Cockpit felt somewhat cramped. I cycled over with my nephew on his prangster and his arms looked a bunch more comfortable than mine. When I popped out the saddle to 'kill a hill' it felt like I was going to roll over the bars. Not good. That Easton Vice stem is super short. Might go for a 90mm...
Bloody bikes: Black holes aren't they?
BTW: It was freezing on the ride home. But it felt good to squeeze 12 miles in at the end of the year. Anyone else ride a bike to a party last night? Oooh. I feel a new thread...

Another solution - move the saddle a tiny bit.

Yeah, went out with family for a meal, then headed over to a friend's for dinner. Yes, two dinners, lovely. Got to ride some calories off by biking all over town though. Gorgeous bright moon, cloudless sky, light coating of snow. Super.

The Creamroller took me out for a blinding 40 miler today - using the fuel that i consumed in excess last night.... The temps were crisp, but the views were never-ending.
Start as you mean to go on - Happy New Year -

ah! missed that. Good idea. But I think I need a bit more than the few cms that will give me.

here is a phone picture of my steamroller with new bars just fitted. I don't really like the way bullhorns look, but I like riding with them more than drops, and they offer more hand positions than risers. Might have to change to my big dutch-style bars soon though, I got a horn for Christmas that will be perfect on them.
Is anyone running treaded (cross?) tyres on their steamroller at the moment? If so, what did you go for?

Schwalbe Marathon Plus. Not sure if they qualify as 'cross', but they certainly are treaded. Supposed supreme puncture resistance and I've had no issue with grip even in the recent snow and ice. Although I'd resisted seeing just how far they'd go before they broke away. The pavement is looking very hard of late.
Riding my MTB a lot and with knobbies the grip on the ice and hard snow is far greater than with a booted foot that's for sure. So I expect it's the same with any treaded entity that rolls with even power. Weight off the front, beautifully balanced cadence seems to work well. We did a pub ride last night and overtook a walker slipping all over the place. He watched us glide past with a look of mild disbelief on his face.

Put 120mm of Kore stem on mine the other day, slipped the saddle back on the rails (thanks Velo) and it rides like a different bike now.
Anyone need an oversized 65mm/70mm long Easton Vice stem ? cheap-cheap.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus. Not sure if they qualify as 'cross',
They definitely do not qualify as cross but I agree they do give good grip. I use tiny 25c Marathon Pluses off road and find them surprisingly grippy.
I do also think cross tyres are overrated though. Big knobby MTB tyres are one thing but a couple of tiny little knobs as seen on most cross tyres doesn't really do any more than a treaded grip such as a Marathon in my experience. -
