  • Aware of that, I work in a bike store on Saturdays, we can get Ison stuff easy as long as over £100 min order, which this is.
Also get employee discount, which is only reason I work in the shop, 35%.

    Thanks though.

Which shop do work in that will have a steamroller on display?

And, if you buy a pacer with 35% off can i just buy direct from you? ; )

  • How is that the Pacer gets a half-decent Surly logo instead of that gnarly abomination that you have to scrape off. Pfff

in a dorky kind of way i like the shit font on the steamroller. to be honest, i didn't buy mine for its super exotic paintjob and graphics.

  • Horses for courses, the only logo I can tolerate is the Karl Kani crest on my backless slippers.

Nothing on display (yet), we can obviously order Surlys (Hyper and I think Pistaboy got one through us) but... the Surly rep was in a few weeks ago and we're probably going to become a dealer soon, then we'll have some stock of them and CrossChecks, hopefully a Dummy too.

Can't share the discount, the socialist hippy in me would love to but it would be the end of the job which is a pretty good number all things considered, one day a week - same discount as full-time guys.

  • Void who do you work for?

  • Happy new year

I am putting full mudguards on mine, any idea what size P clips work best?

  • Void who do you work for?

Missed that sorry, I'm a p/t courier and p/t at OYB, and p/t something else I haven't quite got my finger on yet

  • Ah, and you're up norf, no? Well, Norf of London anyways...

  • .

  • anyways, still loving the idea of having an '11 Steamroller but still second guessing a few other options/bikes...

  • No matter what years it is, it's still the same ol' steamroller.

If you like the fat tyres and sweep back bar, go for it, seriously stop second guessing and get the damn thing already, it's a steamroller, they're popular for a reason.

  • Spanner in the works.

After deciding I'm getting the F&F only I've been looking at other options and now can't decide between the Surly Steamroller or the All City Big Block

    Pros/cons:
Surly is £25 less, but that's FA and even less after my discount. As good as evens.
All City is in stock at Ison, Surly isn't yet, but only 2 weeks. Ditto.
Neither have mudguard mounts, cons to both there. Evens.
I already have a Surly CX, having two would be nice, having something else is nice too though. Evens.
White paint on AC, ugh. Advantage Surly.

I think that's advantage Surly but further opinions are always welcome.

  • All city has those sweet dropouts...

You can buy the Pacer version for 14 bucks:

  • Bought a Steamroller today, get it maybe Saturday.
Went for the black '10 complete after second guessing between F&F/'10 complete/'11 complete. 2010 was about £50 less and has drops, '11 looks interesting but more to swop on it for me.
Will swop out a few bits as I build it, WI freewheel, SRAM crank, levers, Hope headset, pedals. Then sell the bits I take off the new bike, and what's left of the bike it's replacing.
    Pics as I get them.

  • I bought one 3rd of december last year, shop promised would be here first week of january. Called today, "in 2 weeks". Meh. Getting angry with ice and 25mm tires.

  • almost finished this build:

just waiting on wheels and crankset and i'm good to go.

oh, actually, changed the bars over to road drops with two aero brake levers.

That sounds like you ordered a 2011 bike, they are due on 18/1. I bought a 2010 bike (it actually arrived today less than 24 hrs after we ordered it).

If it's the 2011 you want specifically then it will be a two week wait, if you just want a Steamroller regardless, or in fact prefer the 2010 spec (they have a few differences), and if you want to save about £50, you could try asking at the shop if they can revise the order to a 2010 for you.

Of course, because the '10 is obsolete you can't get all sizes now from the distributor, have a look on Ison Distribution under track bikes to see if your size is available. You can't order from Ison, a shop has to do that.

Ignore all that if you want a 2011

    Hope that helped.

  • Let's mod the Steamroller!

  • @eamsey, obviously the road bars are a lot more comfy but damn those track bars look nice.

  • Guys,
Hope im not interupting but I think this is the best thread to talk since it's Steamroller related.
Planning to upgrade my cranks and Truvativ Omnium is one in my list. Any opinion?

Anyone riding with this crank on S.roller?

It is in fact 2010 cream one. I live in finland and the shop ordered it directly from Surly. First I had one coming from evans but they cancelled it and gave money back + 25e (for not being able to keep their promise) because there wasnt any in europe or something.

  • Very nice. You must post an image of the completed build.
