Constant bickering is part of the fabric of this forum. Always has been. It did nothing to stop its meteoric rise on the internet bikesite charts. Some of my friends who've been riding fixed for years or just got into it have said it's not really 'their type of forum'. Boo-fucking-hoo. This isn't some kind of utopia. People have emotions. They don't hold it against me that I frequent the place, nor I against them that they don't. [whooaaah, archaic syntax]

Slap-on-wrist banning is akin to time-out/naughty step/etc. I'd rather let people argue - 9 times out of 10 they reach a mutually agreeable equilibrium on this forum, and the remainder is pantomime which people can choose to ignore. There are plenty of other threads to be going on with.

fred started a thread a while back about the negativity and bullshit on this forum, rather than let it die off uncommented on, I waded in, and got some reaction. fred was right, and there has been warning about this for ages. VB is right also to do what he did, because the short-sighted will believe this forum will exist only with like-minded men on it, and the very few women who have the fortitude to raise their heads above the parapet.

This should not be an exclusive forum, it should be an inclusive forum. Thats what VB is after, and is it wrong? The "bullshit" (to me) infighting here has alienated many. That we only grow by including yet more sweary hipsters, is at the detriment of the majority who come on here via Google-searches, and flee back to safer climes.

Sure, there should and will be disagreements, but I disagree that only those who can HTFU, should be allowed to join in. So what are we saying then, that only thickskinned ss/fixed riders can join? Really? If so, the forum will eventually reach a pinnacle, then collapse back onto itself. Growth is essential. But only one type of growth will leave this forum as exposed as the cheetah, due to lack of DNA variation, and fatalistic inbreeding.
