I literally couldn’t be arsed with all this.
Cleaning vinyl seems like wiping your knob after pissing. Once things are bit worn out, you still get the problem whatever you do.
I now embrace my pissy willy.

By quite a distance.
Knock yourself out though. -

The more I think about the actual argument here it's full of holes. Your willy presumably got washed when you first appeared on the planet and has been washed a pretty considerable amount since then.
Washing a record once after its been pressed and then occasionally depending on use seems very much like the norm for washing any part of the body including a willy.
I'm with you on washing it every time you play with it though, that does seem unnecessary.

Amazed at this vision of your future, eh young gun?

I’ve found that most of the noise on vinyl is caused by crap in the grooves, cleaning helps no end.
Or to put it another way, it’s like having special times with your loved one with tissue paper stuck in your willy.

I can see this being a very popular analogy.

Noise is usually pressing faults, damage or dirt. Also interesting there's plenty of diamond dust in there according to Shure.
Brilliant article published in 1954 :-

Glad my obscene analogy will run & run.

I just blow the dust off and get going 🤷♀️

If it dribbles you should probably have a specialist look at it.
-
• #815
You have to have some lung capacity to manage a 12" but with practice it should be possible.
-
• #816
If it's stubborn I also start shaking it and bump it with the fist of my other hand, it helps.
If it dribbles you should probably have a specialist look at it.
I see you have one of those fancy vacuum machines for that 👍

Cleaning old records in a ultrasonic bath means you get a residue of black bits..
-
• #818
There's been a bit of discussion amongst the record washing community (if thats a thing) about ultrasonic damaging records. I think the jury's out on that one but there's plenty of little bits of vinyl coming off the trimmed edges or the centre holes that can find their way onto the disk.
The argument against ultrasonic is that it's powerful enough to cause cavities to explode and fracture small quantities of the groove. I guess it's an issue if your are talking about the first pressing of Waltz For Debbie.

Anyone sell on discogs? Any tips for a 1st time seller? I'm looking to do a batch upload - listing about 2-300 7" singles in the next couple of weeks - big clear out of mostly tat and repro 45s I've been meaning to do for ages.
-
• #820
What repros? 😋
-
• #821
Mostly some of the funk45 bits jazzman put out in the late noughties and some R&B boots.
Can send you a list once I have prices sorted although I imagine postage to Oz would be prohibitive!? Will probably eBay anything that's picked up some value too.

Tips for discogs. I'm hardly a pro but I've been at it a while.
Don't be optimistic about grading or price. If you have 300 listed at keen prices you'll probably sell 10 per month, of course that number goes down if you only have 50 listed.
Have your packaging and labelling sorted. Every sale involves packaging, weighing and printing postage.
Use the paypal portal to pay for postage, you get a few pence off but it's worth it not to have to transfer addresses.
Use recorded delivery unless you can stand to lose a few records.
I've been at it a while, I'd say you will take about 3 years to shift 300 7" if you are pricing at the lower end and grading properly.

Ah, I've probably got most of those then... I'm on a big French pop jag ATM anyway, too bad I'm in Oz and I can't scratch that itch!

I will never find the energy to be a discogs seller, but admire and appreciate those who are.

It's one way of justifying spending more money on music. I'm only selling because I'm buying too fast.
It's pretty much end game setup in that room. I would like to have a bit more space but first world problems and all that.
