What a beautiful day for commuting ~40 miles, I loved it. AWESOME. In the true sense of the word. Rode across RP as dusk settled, just perfect riding tonight. Yipee, the warmth is over. I fucking hate summer.
Too fucking ride. Less nodders out and about getting in my way and slowing me down :)
I love winter commutes, the top of Hampstead and cutting accross the heath at sunset last night was just lovely

I like it when its in the morning, frosty, bit of snow in the fields, no wind, no clouds, still barely 0c but the sun is nice.
Don't care if I'm on a road/mtb/motor bike, walking dogs or what, just out in that kind of scene is nice. -

I think I've seen some of that movie. I also think Abba was in another Aussie feature fillum.
Muriel's Wedding perhaps? It was Mad Max, the scene with The Toecutter.

Leaving home in the dark, watching the sunrise just as I get to work, watching it set then leaving work in the dark to ride home.
I love my lights. -

+1 t-shirt weather still.
Colder than yesterday but it's not cold until you literally have to wear gloves.
First wear of the gloves of Friday.
Mind you, I suffer from Raynauld so my glove wearing season is about a month longer at each end than most peoples......

Resurrecting this thread on this freezing cold morning (well, cold compared to last week).
This year is going to be my first proper winter of cycling.Anyone have any tips (apologies if asking in this thread has created some unforgivable faux pas)?
just get ya systems sorted out,
meaning- getting home after rain- fresh clothes.
bikes (regardless of type) spin em out fast, towels to dry chainsets off- 2 mins well spent, if really bad turn upside down with seatpost out to drain excess waterreally think winter is much more rewarding

A great many people on this thread will probably get through the winter in shorts and t-shirt since their smug sense of self-satisfaction will keep them warm as toast.

Anyone who looks down on 'fair-weather' cyclists. Everyone on two wheels is a friend: subject to many, many conditions, of course. It's all about the ride!!!!

watching idiots in cars burn out their engines spinning the wheels in the snow and sliding back down the hill, while I cruise up past them on my 38s

Ive already been looking on ebay and bought a bulk buy of long woolly socks and am splashing out on a few base layers cause it was chilly in the flat this evening, the first time ive put the central heating on for quite a while too, im hoping that my mountain bike frame will be finished by christmas for the onslaught of snow we will be getting in january, i like riding in the cold as lOng as im wearing the appropriate amount without restricting my movement....

It's ruddy bloody baking at the moment, I'm kind of looking forward to it being terrible conditions again but I feel I may regret thinking that way.

Left for work at 7 this morning felt cold outside so I put on winter bibs and cycling jacket...
Oh how wrong I was, I was sweating more than summer by the time I arrived!

I love the fact that you have to get ready with a bit more care. Can't just hop on. So there's these little rituals that kick in which involve laying gear out and so on. Also love allowing a bit more time for porridge in the morning.

It's not offically porridge season yet.

Also just had bad news at work. Our next round of c2w scheme doesn't start until dec-jan. I'm selling my track bike and wanted to get a disc brake commuter for all year around. Turns out I'll be commuting on my road bike during potentially the worst time of year for weather.
