Come on guys, everyone knows that English winter is a myth.
There are just two seasons - Autumn and spring..........and it rains through both. -

thats o.k for you to say from the sun kissed climes of Poland...
Im going out in the sun riding again

looking out the window, seeing the sun shining and the ground dry, thinking it'll be summer soon. Then going outside woefully underprepared for the cold and then slipping on the ice.

Lovely morning to be riding through the countryside! Started off a bit foggy but I soon climbed up out of it into clear blue skies to see the sun rising. Crisp fresh air filling the lungs as I spin through traffic free lanes :)

Where the fuck have you been riding? Somewhere the laws of physics have been inverted?
You're just riding slower; and for that, you should be ashamed of yourself.
So I'm not allowed to wax lyrical once in a fucking while?
Set of bastards, etc.. etc...

Sometimes when the sun is low in the sky shining across the Heath, I manage a smile, but then have to regain my senses while avoiding black ice/leaves or a pot hole.
I hate winter

Resurrecting this thread on this freezing cold morning (well, cold compared to last week).
This year is going to be my first proper winter of cycling.Anyone have any tips (apologies if asking in this thread has created some unforgivable faux pas)?

htfu. don't lean.

Enjoy the reduced Nodderton, stay out of the gutter p#nctures lie therein, be super vigilant for potholes where before there were none, cars visibility is reduced - this does not mean you have to look like a dayglo pencil eraser but cycle with care, if you think this is cold then best of luck to you, once you're wet you're wet, lights at night or you are truly a twat and DON'T LEAN.

Good god, man, I haven't even changed into my long sleeves yet. How are you going to cope when there is actual frost?!
-

Yes, I am a pussy.

+1 t-shirt weather still.
Colder than yesterday but it's not cold until you literally have to wear gloves.

Yes! still in T's and shorts, 5 layers of summer lard keeping me warm ;-) constant head wind full of dust and debris is getting me down though -_-
-
• #140
Looking forward to the colder weather and the accompanying increased power.
Cold air is denser so each lungfull contains much more oxygen. It's like having a built in supercharger!
-
• #141
cold air is more dense and thus harder to push through, it's like riding in treacle!

40mph winds.
Great training and mad bike handling skillzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This ^ There is a stretch in Bermondsey / New Cross that is just filthy riding past skip yards and crap. The level of dust in the air and on the road is awful. I can feel myself getting dirty and my lungs being trashed.

Fuck me, I never knew that.
I am looking forward to winter riding, and it did feel pretty cold here in Norwich this morning. But then it's generally my ears that suffer, cos they stick oot a bit.

Loving this weather: happy medium.

Am I the only moron that finds it hard to control my bicycle in the wind? Doesn't even take a lot of wind, either. A tiny little gust on the side and it's like I've got a parachute tied to my front wheel. Is it because I've got feeble little girly arms?
-
• #148
No, it can be tough. Tiny gust or raging gale- seems difficult at random sometimes
-
• #149
42mm deep rims ? hmmm ?

ride into the wind for an hour. 30 minutes to get home.
