Mince Pie Appreciation

Fuck you all, I just smashed the last 6 pack of Aldi mincers I had in the kitchen this evening.

Feeling heavy with food and shame.

I have about eight in a tin on my kitchen counter. I haven't opened the tin since boxing day. I am afeared.

I bought Welsh cakes.
It's like methadone. Not quite. But almost.

Still have about 800g of mincemeat in a tub in the fridge from late novembers breeding program. What doesn't fit inside the pastry I've got left I'll just eat direct from the tub and I will feel no guilt only satisfaction.

Just tried a vegan bakewell with left over mincemeat, tastes pretty good although looks a bit crap.

It is not even halloween and there is the september glut of cooking apples to make in to apple based cake/tart and flan goodness.

Brambles are out in a hedgerow near you! suggest mixing with last years 10p reduced jars of mincemeat, put inside pastry, bake, then maybe ruin them with icing (do half!?) and then ease into an early winter pie sesh.

I have a jar of mincemeat that I bought after Christmas to bake some this winter, but it goes out of date in November. What shall I doooooooooooooooooo? Bake some soon and betray the sacred trust or wait until December and risk food poisoning?

It's a nominal date. Doesn't go off. Hold the line!
