I used to love salad cream. Will look out for that.

Instant noodles - when the ingredients list "insert animal here flavour" is that just chemicals, or is it ground up animals?

Cool, will have to have a hunt in the "world food" aisles!

Flavour means E-numbers, they'd just say 'beef' otherwise - food manufacturers are keen to emphasise that their produce has 'real food', rather than chemicals. Pretty sure beef & tomato Pot Noodle is vegan, also bacon Super Noodles. My go-to is Maggi 3-minute curry noodles - a great hit of warming toxic nastiness.
I got the Heinz salad cream the other day, but not opening it until the right time (when I'm having chips and beans, obviously).

Answering my own question, there seem to be a lot of products for vegans out in the wilds: https://www.peta.org/living/food/emergency-preparedness-dehydrated-vegan-backpacking-food/

My vote for sausages goes to the Sainsbury’s/plant pioneers Cumberland shroomdogs, closely followed by Richmond’s ones. I had high-hopes for the chorizo shroomdogs, but thought they were absolutely rank, really couldn’t stomach them to the point of throwing the rest of them out.
Had a Pukka chicken & mushroom pie the other day too, which I dare say has knocked Linda’s country pies off their perch.

...and for noodles - nongshim shin ramyun are my go-to (quite spicy), though it seems to depend where they’re imported from as to whether they’re vegan or not, so double-check for beef stock and/or anchovies just in case.
Those, or the Koka chicken flavour ones that you often find at off-licences - despite having a little symbol on the back that says ‘non-veg’, both the ingredients (by omission) and company website (explicitly) say they’re vegan.

Oh my god the vegan sausage naan make at home kit from Dishoom is amazing. If you fancy a treat then it's definitely worth the cash.

Continuing the "just add hot water" food chat... Tesco own brand instant noodles, 30p a pack, chicken flavour (0% chicken) and chow mein flavour are both vegan. Tried the chicken today... Can't say it tasted of a lot tbh, probably taste alright after a day in the hills. For: Easy, light weight, and warm. Against: Not much going on in terms of nutrition and palm oil high up the ingredients list.

Instant noodles are my go to emergency under 5min food. Add frozen peas and sweetcorn, with dash of sriracha sauce and swirl of kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). Delicious and a bit more nutritious.

Not sure if this has been on here before, nor if these petitions actually do much, but this is one supporting the call for the EU to drop amendment 171 which will stop non-dairy producers from using words like 'milk' 'creamy' 'notsqueezedfromateat'

Got a recipe for your lovely looking banoffee pie? I can ruin anything without proper guidance.

Shows just how threatened they feeling, I mean what you got to hide re climate impact info:
"IN PRACTICE, AMENDMENT 171 COULD PROHIBIT THE FOLLOWING:
Describing a plant-based food, its taste, or function by referring to familiar ‘dairy’ terminology. For example, using wordings such as ‘it’s like milk’, ‘creamy’, or ‘buttery’ to inform the consumer about the purpose, texture, or flavour, either on packaging or advertising. This includes informative descriptions, even if they are purely factual. For instance, using the phrases “does not contain milk”, “suitable for persons suffering from lactose intolerance”, or “plant-based alternative to yoghurt”.
Showing climate impact by comparing the carbon footprint of a plant-based food item with its dairy equivalent.
Using a picture of a plant-based white beverage being poured at a breakfast table, or white foam swirling into a cappuccino.
In its most restrictive interpretation, this could result in bans on plant-based food packaging that looks visually similar to dairy packaging." -

I had to just guess the caramel temperature and didn't bother putting the cream into the caramel mixture, but turned out alright.
